The Gray: A Vampire Detective Novel

The Gray: A Vampire Detective Novel

Danielle Cashat
0/5 ( ratings)
Lana Gray, vampire hacker extraordinaire gets asked to help when a young werewolf girl goes missing, possibly at the hands of another vampire. Too bad the man in charge of the case is Detective Bane Lucas who can’t seem to stand Lana and her vampire antics.

Lana is something of a celebrity in the nonhuman world, not for being a vampire, but for being orphaned by her sire, who is still unknown after fifty years. What kind of cruel monster would turn a young girl against her will and leave her for dead? Lana would love to get his name and ask him directly, but she’s never found a lead to his identity.

Detective Bane Lucas may be the alpha of his pack, a well-respected Dallas detective and drop dead handsome but he is majorly hands off to Lana. Vampires can’t fraternize with wolves and that’s tragic because Lana would really like to get her hands on Bane.

The Vampire Magistrate keeps making it harder for Bane and Lana to find the missing girl, despite the fact that Lana is having an affair with him. Vampire politics are harsh and confusing and even mind-blowing sex isn’t enough to break the rules apparently.

Lana decides she wants to step out from behind the computer and do some field work to find who has the kidnapped girl, but that involves the outdoors. There is nothing Lana hates as much as the outdoors, except for snakes.

Bane disagrees with Lana about letting her operate in the field even after he finds out more kids are missing. He doesn’t seem to believe that despite her small size she is capable of defending herself. He keeps forgetting she’s an apex predator too, maybe she needs to remind him.

Can Lana find the missing kids before the worst happens? What can a pint size vampire do against an army of vampires? Sarcastic wit and sharp nails may not be enough. Will Bane be there to help her rescue them from their captors or will he be too late?

At the end of the day the ultra harsh rules of the Magistrate might be the undoing of Lana Gray when it comes time to face the consequences for how everything played out. She can’t let Bane take the blame and she’s not afraid to trade places with him to satiate her need for justice to be served.
