Autobiography of a pioneer pastor, Dr. Johan Seleen , who was born in Väse Parish, Värmland County, Sweden. He came to America in 1871 and entered Augustana College and Seminary in Paxton, Illinois. He was ordained on Sept. 29, 1872. He was married to Sofia Berrgren of Nyed, Värmland Co., Sweden. They had eight children, 3 of which survived to adulthood. The first pastorate to which Rev. Seleen was called was at Mariadahl, Kansas. He was then pastor of Freemount Lutheran Church at Freemount, Kansas from 1876 to 1897. He was also a member of the first Board of Directors at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas. He died in Stockton, Kansas at the age of 85.
