I was six years old when I first heard “the voice”. It wasn’t an audible voice; more like a feeling. There was an older woman in my church who had never been married. I wondered to myself, why? That’s when the voice spoke clearly to me: “That’s going to be you. Nobody is ever going to want to marry you.” That voice created a fear in me that day that caused me to spend half my life manufacturing relationships that weren’t right for me out of fear of being alone. I have spent the last ten years, single and on a journey of self-discovery. I discovered the difference between having a desire to be married and needing to be married. I stopped putting my life on hold for a wedding and I began to live! While discussing my last chapter with my friend Pastor Cynthia, the origin of “the voice” suddenly came flooding back to memory…“Oh my gosh!
