This was a ridiculous book,,,I love a Good crime/serial killer book with a female lead,,,,this book is Not !!FBI agent Emma Griffin is a mess. the book opens with her completely ruining an undercover operation because she cannot control her emotions. She follows up this " Inept Female" scenario by developing a romantic relationship with a lifelong serial killer within hours of arriving on the scene. She continues to prove that she is completely unable to be an FBI agent by wandering the woods af...
Mixed bagThis wasn’t a horrible book, but I don’t think it’s a great book with interesting twists and turns. In the middle. - the main character, Emma, is an FBI agent who Is like a bull in a china shop. She rushes through her cases, doing her own thing, which I might add is not clever at all.- She ends up on another case and she’s just as bad. Giving orders, pushing her way into an investigation even though she’s undercover and supposed to be a regular citizen.- I could figure out who the kille...
Engaging story, but felt like the author has little knowledge or experience with the FBI to make this more legitimate feeling.Info dump from villain's monologue was a bit over the top, as well.
This book follows Emma Griffin. This is the first mission she’s had still she totally fucked up the other one and was put on desk duty for six months. She goes to a small town in Virginia called Feathered Nest where over the past two years (or more) eight people have disappeared or were found dead. Emma has been sent in to go undercover and figure out what happened since the local police are refusing help from the FBI. But in the first five minutes of her being in the rented cabin, she rented a
If hallmark starts spitting out ‘mysteries’.
Couldn’t do itThe story was predictable due to the poor writing regarding character development. Emma is an FBI agent who is very weak and ignorant in her job, how she became an agent is beyond me. She doesn’t have any fighting skills, she pieces things together far too slowly, and the relationship she gets into *eye-roll*. It’s such cheesy writing, the fact she meets the guy and then is practically in love with him in two days when she’s supposed to be this “determined to prove myself” FBI agen...
Exceptional Thriller ! This might be the only murder/thriller on my favorites list . I won't go on about it for fear of a minor spoiler . Not a great book to help with your insomnia .
Ugh. Another could have been good but settled for ok read. A detective is sent undercover to a small town where people keep going missing and the police seem to not be effectively solving the crimes. She falls for one of the locals, who seems to good to be true. So you can guess what happens...predictable. There were a few good moms but overall it was underwhelming.
This book is terrible. The plot is simple, no surprise and the MC is probably the worst FBI agent on Earth because nothing makes sense. Two stars cause it's a fast read.
This woman is supposed to be an FBI agent?? Oh, my!From the opening scenes, when she totally bungled an undercover operation and let her emotions get the better of her, she struck me as a very inept, immature and not too intelligent agent. Her actions in Feathered Nest in another undercover operation did not disabuse me of that opinion whatsoever. Again, she let her emotions control her and bullied her way into the investigation in a manner that was guaranteed to arouse the suspicions and ire of...
THIS WAS SO GOOD ❤️ okay I don’t know if Im just an idiot or what cuz I didn’t think that the killer was gonna be that person like I was surprised maybe I just seen to read more crime fiction to think harder, I’m just very gullible and will believe anything the author says 😂 but I loved all of this book especially the ending because it was so creepy if you were imagined what it would look like 👀 A+ and 10/10 for me
VERY DISAPPOINTEDI hate it when I think an author is a really good wordsmith but, in this story at least, a poor character developer....kindest way I know to express my disappointment. This had great potential in the initial set-up....but then the story wasn't remotely plausible due to the main character. In the thousands of books I've read I really don't think I've ever read a character as flat-out stupid....yes, stupid...as Emma was. At about 70% through I almost gave it up....I mean, the vill...
So I came across this book on kindle unlimited. I had never heard of the author before so had no idea what to expect as far as writing style. This book was amazing! It was quick to get through, kept you on your toes, and the mystery built until the very end. I loved the main character in this book. Emma was a great cop working under cover with the FBI. You get to see how it isn't just a man's job and she is very good at what she does. Usually when reading murder mystery type of books you can tel...
Poorly written and so unrealistic. Also, I'm not sure if I missed it but the big premise of the book was the stranger who showed up on her doorstep and then died while clinging to a piece of paper with her name on it. Who was he really? It had nothing to do with the story? How did he really die? How did he know her real identity? What did this have to do with story at all?? Maybe I missed it in trying to get to the end of the book quickly to end the pain of reading anymore of this story.
Finished in just a couple of days! What would you do if you found a dead body on your porch…with your name written on the dead body’s hand!!!! A haunting mystery that a secret FBI agent is sent to uncover. Set in a little cabin in the woods (how fitting), town disappearances have left the town terrified but the agent intrigued!
That was extremely predictable. Not impressed. Won't be reading anymore of this series.
2.5 stars - This book was so slow until about the last 20% mark. Emma was a complete idiot and a horrible FBI agent. I don’t know if it was because maybe the author doesn’t have a lot of knowledge about the Bureau or police procedure, but it was like Emma just went off the rails. I had such high hopes for another series to get into. The whole monologue at the end from the villain explaining everything was so far off from what Emma thought she had “figured out” it was ridiculous. I can’t imagine
3.5 starsI did find this book very entertaining and engaging but it was missing…things. There were a few things mentioned in the book that were never followed up on and I felt that the ending was a bit rushed. With that being said, it was still a good book and I’m going to give the second book in the series a chance.
Average read. The mystery wasn't interesting. The people had no appeal. I didn't really care how did it. Ho Hum.
Blah. The villian was obvious to me from the start. No surprises, no reveals, no nothing. Blah.
FBI agent Emma Griffin is sent undercover to the little town of Feathered Nest, which has had a string of disappearances spanning two years. She makes friends with Jake, the local bartender, who helps her alleviate some of the prejudice she faces as an outsider. She quickly learns that all small towns have their secrets, some of them spanning generations. She also doesn’t take long to identify the local sheriff as a suspect. I might have enjoyed this mystery better if Emma was just a PI instead
In another century, I wanted to go into law enforcement. My mom put her foot down—which was so much worse than Daddy putting his foot down—and said it wasn’t going to happen because 1) a profession where I’d be shot at was out of the question, and 2) my obstinance would make people want to shoot at me! HA!I recalled that conversation after the opening of The Girl in Cabin 13. Her dogged determination to make a suspect confess—and her righteous indignation—lead Emma Griffin to almost blowing an u...
I was hooked to this audiobook within minutes of starting it and had to listen to it in one sitting. Emma was a little naive to be an FBI agent but this was her first case being back after some leave and it started off with quite a surprise, arriving at her cabin undercover to find a dead man in her porch.I liked the investigating throughout this book, the chilling things that happened, the cabin seemed quite eerie and I was shocked at who the murderer turned out to be, they were not even on my
I received this book through ARC in exchange of an honest review. Emma Griffith has baggage, lots of it. That's what brings her into the FBI as an undercover agent, only Emma let's her baggage engage her reckless actions. Reckless or hot headed, either motivate her. She's working a tough case, tough in her motives, actions and life. She's gritty, tough, and tries to do it all, her way. I found the author writes well, keeps you guessing, flipping pages quickly to get to the meat of the story. Cha...
Slow start to the book, but holy smokes I was on the edge of my seat on the last half of the book. Emma was a phenomenal character but seemed to not be in the right mindset for this book. It appears as though she had her own personal deaths to attempt in understanding and was thrown into a project than anticipated. Can’t wait to continue to read the rest of the series.
Creepy cabin mysteryThe beginning didn’t grab my attention like I had hoped, but after sticking with it for a couple of chapters it really got interesting. The cabin was creepy enough to get the suspense kicked off. 3.5 stars
This started out a bit slow for me, but once things got going, I could hardly put it down. The storyline was interesting and engaging, and although I had my suspicions throughout, the ending was still gripping where many other murder mysteries fall flat.
If you are a fan of good, well-written mysteries that have you guessing right up until the end, do not waste your money on The Girl in Cabin 13. The author expects us to believe that an FBI agent would act like a silly, adolescent girl, would confront a police chief with loud, obnoxious accusations, would immediately strike up a romance with the first man she meets while on a case, and any number of other ridiculous acts that had me gagging. I only finished it because I had nothing else to read
Couldn’t put it down Talk about a page turner; I could not stop reading and probably stayed up way too late reading until I couldn’t keep my eyes open any longer. If you are someone who is interested in true crime then you’ll really enjoy this, even though it’s fiction. It feels like someone telling you the story of a horrible crime and how it was solved. Can’t wait to read the next books!
