Surprised by God's Grace

Surprised by God's Grace

Christianity promises so much to sincere believers. The Bible offers believers a new life in Christ. This new life should begin in the here & now. Coming to faith in Jesus Christ by being filled with the Holy Spirit, should enable a new believer to live righteously. Only then can they know real peace & joy in their daily lives.
Yet so often for Christians, these promises do not become a reality. So many people drop away from the Christian faith. In reality, the Bible also promises that following Jesus Christ will entail struggles & sacrifices. All Christians experiences struggles in their lives, too few receive the blessings that the Bible promises.
In this book, I will endeavour to argue why becoming a Christian should be amazing. I will do this by examining the teachings of the Bible in relation to my own personal testimony of coming to faith in Christ.
In part 1 of this book, I will argue that receiving the Holy Spirit is essential to begin a new life in Christ. It is necessary for the new believer to cooperate with the Holy Spirit, in order to experience the full joy and peace of having Jesus Christ as their savour.
Part 2 is a brief summary of my life up until the point of my conversion.
Part 3 of this book examines the teachings of the Bible in more detail. I will discuss the role of repentance and faith in a person's salvation. Doctrines of regeneration and justification will be discussed. Finally, the doctrine of the sanctification of the believer will be discussed in relation to the topics of sin, temptation, prayer and righteousness.
Part 4 of this book will discuss how the Biblical concepts of part 3 have actually translated into my real-life walk with the Lord.
This short book ends with my final chapter in which I ponder why so often the lives of Christians are not transformed. I will argue that conversion is really simple and knowing the Lord is truly life-changing.
