3.5 - 4 Stars ***Make sure you check out an important note I bolded further down*** Well. This book made me cry at the end. Which is a big deal. Because I RARELY cry. And I even more rarely admit to it. So there’s that.As all Zapata readers know, her books are slow. Super slow. And this one was VERY slow. Even more slow than usual, in my opinion. Certain things are very dragged out. Some dialogue and scenes felt superfluous...and endlessly meandering. Without purpose. In fact, I was actually con...
mariana zapata could write a 9000 page fanfiction based on peppa pig and i would read it. there is nothing this woman puts out that i would not put on a pedestal and worship. READ: 08/14/2019 *4.5/5* "Do what you have to do to be happy, okay? No one else is going to do it for you." she's done it again ladies and gays. ms. mariana zapata never fails to satisfy. she also somehow manages to successfully write every trope she decides to tackle with perfection? i have too many emotions right now so...
Don’t mind me, I’m just here sobbing my heart out and my eyes hurt and my whole body hurts and half of it is because this book is so damn BEAUTIFUL and the other half of it is because there are no more pages for me to read. Mariana Zapata has outdone herself. THE BEST THING deserves a bazillion stars.
I know I'm in the minority here, but this book was a total miss for me. I was annoyed from the beginning until the end. If you are familiar with Zapata then you know that she is big on family relationships, but I was bored to death... to be honest. I just don't care about reading so much about uncles, sisters, grandfathers etc in general. I want the main couple to be in the spotlight without having dozens of cousins popping out every second page.It didn't help that every chapter started with a q...
DNF @76%Mariana Zapata's books have been on my to-be-read pile since her breakout book Kulti and Wall of Winnipeg & Me. And despite my friend's urging, I've been reticent in trying her books. For one, I find 500+ books intimidating. Two, I'm a moody reader and you guys know how that is.But the blurb for The Best Thing hooked me right in and I knew that if I ever start a Zapata book, this would be a good choice. Plus, I was in the mood for slow burns.Unfortunately, this one didn't quite go as exp...
5 stars Mariana Zapata is the queen of slow burn romances and as soon as she releases a book, I read it. I was so excited to read The Best Thing. I fell in love with Lenny and Grandpa Gus when I read Luna and the Lie so I was sure I would love this story. I did. I loved it so much. It hit me more in the feels than any other book by this author. I swear, that epilogue... I sobbed. There was some intense ugly crying going on. As much as I loved this book, this review is going to be rather short...
Spoiler free reviewThe Best Thing almost felt like it was written just for me. It was as close to perfect as it gets in regards to my taste.I'm not kidding. The tropes, one is a secret one and can't be revealed, the characters, the story - it ALL synced with me. I was in one happy place reading this book. It's always a great indication if I read with a smile on my face and if a book can make me laugh so hard I'm afraid I'll pee myself. So here are all the things I loved about this book:1) Lenny....
VIVA ZAPATA! In the love of the queen of the slow-burn romances, you made me fall in love with your book! I cannot help myself to put it down. I finished it but I still hold it in my hands. I’m literally cuddling! My dogs are already jealous of the book getting more attention than them What an amazing writer you are! Arriba! Five blazing, sizzling, shining, firing stars! First of all I raise my glass to the most amazing supporting character who stole the show : GRANDPA GUS! What a fascinating,...
Boring, repetitive, and pretty much like her other story about the auto-mechanic.
I liked this, but it was nothing too special to me. I have no strong feelings towards it, if that makes sense. Did I love it? No. But did I hate it? Also no. It was one of those books that i’ll forget about tomorrow but I still enjoyed it while reading. I did very much appreciate the Luna & Ripley mentions <3
Editor needed!Hey guys, did you know Jonah has honey coloured eyes? No, well Lenny only mentions them 37 times. Seriously this woman had an absolute obsession with eye colour and about halfway through the book I thought about turning it into a drinking game but then I decided my liver wouldn’t be able to deal with the sheer quantity I would need to drink. Sadly I think I’m done with Zapata’s books. I enjoyed the first few but with every new publication I realise that she only has 2 love stories
❥ 5 / 5 starsBefore reading this one, I have to say that I didn’t expect anything from its story since I picked it up just because its cover caught my eye and it made me want to read it.😂But after finishing it, I think The Best Thing is a great book one, though. It doesn’t only focus on romance but it also focus on family relationships. And that’s why I love this book. Even if the plot is mediocre but Mariana Zapata’s writing is so captivating that I decided to overlook and forget about it. I al...
