I liked this one, but got confused because of the narrative. Hopped around too much on various topics. I think most of this I didn't know and was needed for today. This covers both animal and human rights.
A pet peeve of mine is when books in a series summarize the previous books in the initial chapters. I'm a binge reader and usually have everything fresh in my head so it irks me. This stand alone slim book summarized itself multiple times. Graphic novels are typically quick reads, so I'm not sure what audience the author was envisioning would need several recaps. Love the detailed illustrations but this was a real snoozer for me. Too much text about horse history minutea and a couple of bizarre "narrator" characters. They were annoying and made no sense to me in this story.

A must for history fans and horse lovers! This is a text-heavy comic that covers a lot of American mustang history in bite-sized panels. The characters leading you through the timeline are entertaining and provide a little comedy. The authors trace the evolution of the mustang and its spread throughout North America, looking at how it figured into the relationships between Native Americans and European settlers. Fascinating and thought-provoking.
Excellent story and illustrations
Narrated by a very informative horse! I liked the stories of the native tribes stealing horses back and forth, and the mustangers catching wild horses to use or sell.

A good dive into the surprisingly complicated history of horses in North America. The art is excellent, with decent flow between panels, dialog, and graphics. I'm excited to read more in this new series, as I already love the Science Comics series!
Interesting information!!! Not too impressed with the narrator characters, they were a bit corny. But very good timeline of the wild mustang.
I actually liked the graphic format, but would have preferred straight history rather than interjections by other characters introduced to add humor and make interjections. I found that distracting, but maybe kids will appreciate that element?

Excellent history of wild horses in America. It felt pretty complete to me, and I really liked how much focus was put on how the mustangs shaped Native American culture.

Art was clear and easy to read, good color pallet, thorough information that didn't sugar-coat the way Europeans treated Native Americans or the way the United States has treated wild horses. Another cute and informative graphic novel, that taught me a lot! The art was lovely and found a nice balance between cartoony and realistic. Makes me want to learn more. That's why I like history books for kids, they're usually a good entry point to a subject and if you are still interested you can find deeper and longer books for info.
