It really makes the novel easy to study.=)
Excellent support for Golding's novel "The Lord of the Flies". It contains information on the life of the author, a synopsis and analysis of each chapter, character analyses, and essays on the main themes. Helped me immensely with some symbolism I missed as well as helping the reader to appreciate the structure and writing of the book.
Great insights and set up chapter by chapter so it can be read concurrently with the novel.
Beyond Comprehensive Love the format and easy-to-digest portions of information. This will really help my 9th grader get through Lord of the Flies.
QuotesLord of the Flies explores the dark side of humanity, the savagery that underlies even the most civilized human beings. Step five: turn on computer and press the buttons with letters on them (otherwise known as a keyboard). Step five: hand in book report (and this is key) with a neutral smile at teacher that says: "yes I did not read the book, and you can probably tell from this...
CliffsNotes: Lord of the Flies got me through the dreadful bore of a novel, understanding it a bit better. However, the summary of each chapter was too brief, and the author went forever in the analysis. For whatever it was worth, CliffsNotes: Lord of the Flies was a good idea.
I reserved this book because I was going to see the show at Round House Theatre and had never read the book. I glanced through it and got an idea of the story before seeing the show. Now I don't think I will read it.
If looking to take a critical look at books: read Cliffsnotes. If wanting to read for fun: do not read Cliffsnotes.
