Solid re-imagining of one of the less prominent of Howard's Conan stories. It follows the original story closely without any surprises, though the iron statues themselves are perhaps more creepy here than in any of the others. Olivia too is quite sexy, and the author isn't unaware of one of the major themes of the story and of the Conan stories in general, that of the position of women in civilized societies as opposed to among 'barbarians'.The art style works well for the story, though it does
Howard at his best in respectful comics adaptation. I got everything I like in his stories, temple lost in wilderness, long forgotten evil gods and cults and woman in distress. Who is also having her saying in the story, and she is not just some bystander that needs saving. Dark atmosphere of temple works great with contrast of jungle island paradise.
