A fun feel-good story! Bree is a free spirit currently acting as a fairy at the local theater. Chip is a little more buttoned up trying to branch away from the family business. Bree and Chip’s pass first cross when Bree is having a costume mishap during her performance and Chip comes to her rescue. Their paths cross again later that night when Bree is followed home by an obnoxious driver in a big truck just to find out it is Chip and he is now her new neighbor. A broken waterline and an overly z...
Unfortunately, this book just didn't work for me. I listened to part of this as an audio book and read part as a print copy. The narrator of the audio book was good and she definitely kept me engaged in the lightheartedness of the story. To start with, the book just didn't match the synopsis. I thought from the narrative that Bree had inherited half of the house? The synopsis seems to indicate that there was a bargain worked out with her parents, but I didn't get that at all. Maybe Bree was flig...
I listened to the audio version of this story. The narrator did a very good job and I enjoyed her narration style. It was lively and entertaining. It took me awhile to get into the plot of this book. The misunderstandings and pranks between Bree and Chip were definitely juvenile and that had me on edge for a bit. However, I lightened my grasp on reality and decided to just enjoy the silliness of it all and began to enjoy the story much more, including many moments where I laughed out loud. The lat...
I am always down for a good enemies to lovers and Ferguson's inherent personality blasts through the page! The same winsome voice that hooked so many readers in Ferguson's debut is as sparkling here. Balancing humour with warmth and featuring a unique hook and premise. Perhaps what I most enjoyed is that the romantic elements are a little bit stronger. Both leads explode on the page with authentic banter ad intelligent dialogue.Readers of Sophie Kinsella and Sally Thorne have found their clean r...
DNF @ 30% in.This has a cute plot idea, but I wasn't able to get into it. Chip has a girlfriend but is noticing Bree*. Bree is noticing too many of Chip's muscles. Yeah, I'll pass. No interest in seeing how this book ends. *(I'd like to comment on the dialogue he had about this: "He had a girlfriend. A terrific, wonderful girlfriend. Yes, this woman [Bree] had stinking green eyes, but he could've noticed that about anymore. It was a perfectly harmless, meaningless observation. Just like he'd not...
The Cul-de-Sac War is a light hearted, humorous and highly entertaining romantic comedy. I adored Bree and Chips characters. The back and forth between the two of them with their pranks was priceless - and the final prank had me laughing out loud. Oh the shenanigans, haha! Plus Russell, Chips dog was too much. I enjoyed his mischief! I highly recommend this book to those who enjoy a light, clean rom-com :) Great big thank you to Uplit Reads and Melissa Ferguson for my copy!
I really, really enjoyed listening to this cute contemporary romcom. I had earlier requested for an e-Arc of this book which didn't get approved so when I saw that the audio was up for request as well I took my chance and was so glad to get it. I feel listening to the book was a better option for me because I don't think I would have enjoyed reading the book as much as I have enjoyed listening to it. Voice actress Kate Rudd has done a very fine job narrating this entire book, all characters incl...
I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.***AUDIO BOOK VERSION***The Cul-de-sac war is a fun, lighthearted, quirky read with a light storyline of neighbours/frenemies to lovers with a slow-burn romance in between. This book was just what I needed to cheer me up and had me giggling afew times through the story. Bree and Chip meet at the beginning of the book. Bree has a wardrobe malfunction whilst on stage at the theat...
Ahh!!!! I loved every single second of this. Every second of Bree and Chip's banter and prank war was perfect. I heard so many reviews on The Cul-de-Sac War but I'm so glad that I continued through this book which I listened through on Scribd as an audiobook. I think that listening to The Cul-de-Sac War as an audiobook made it more special, the expressions just felt more special when listening to the book.I loved the slowburn aspect and the fact that even though they did all these pranks toward
1.5 starsWell, this wasn't for me. The premise sounded fun and lighthearted - a neighborly war that would most likely end in romance, I'm there for it! But the story was mostly just Chip and Bree doing their jobs, worrying about their jobs, coming home from 12 hours on the job and then doing something ridiculous to each other. I didn't buy the animosity between them and I definitely didn't buy the love either. I didn't particularly care about any of the characters. Both Chip and Bree were annoyi...
Looking for a squeaky-clean romcom with a "friendly" neighborly rivalry? This new release will fit the bill. I found the feud between Bree and Chip to be an amusing plot device that propelled the plot along while our main characters dealt with their family baggage. Both are from supportive families and I especially enjoyed Bree's parent visits and their love affair with Russell, Chip's dog. BTW, that Russell needs his own book! Anyway, this is an uplifting story with a testament to the power of
Readers looking for a fun and lighthearted romantic comedy will certainly want to read this latest from Melissa Ferguson. This is one romance that will have you laughing throughout the book. The story centers on Bree and Chip, who have a pleasant first meeting that seems as if it will be one of those instances where people meet and never cross paths again. As luck would have it, Bree and Chip meet again under some not so pleasant circumstances when they discover that he has bought the house next
I absolutely loved “The Dating Charade” and was counting down until I could read book two. It is so perfect for a relaxing, hilarious, and light-hearted read. The cause-and-effect of this book is hysterical and just when you think things are resolved, it all gets worse. But in that way that makes you go, “Oh no, this didn’t really just happen... but it did. And... it’s kind of believable.”So yes, I loved this book when it comes to that note. The style is funny, but not a forced funny. Just a nat...
The narrator of "The Cul-de-Sac War" by Melissa Ferguson is brilliant! I love the way she pulled you into the story right along with the actual words, I highly recommend the audiobook for those that listen to books or like me rarely listen to an audiobook.Plot review: This'll be a quick review since I may come back once I have a paperback. All right, I loved The Cul-de-Sac War by Melissa Ferguson, it was witty, humourous, romantic, and completely needed right now.The way this rom-com ended was ab...
[Gifted] A fun, almost slapstick-humorous romance about two neighbours who keep making each others lives difficult. This was so comedic, especially the audiobook - the narrator's dialogue had the funniest intonations, it made it all ten times funnier. A thoroughly enjoyable escapist read.
I was going through English Audiobooks available for review on Netgalley when I saw the title "The Cul-de-Sac War" by Melissa Ferguson. The very first thing I checked was the language settings in Netgalley. Then I google the word "Cul-de-sac", what I gauged from the title was the book must be around neighbors. And that was described in the blurb. Based on these few things, I applied for the review copy in exchange for an honest review, and luckily I won it. So here I am discussing the sweet love...
