Ahmed's got a solid feel Miles as Miles and Miles as Spidey and it's only improved with each novel. I wondered when Hickman's 21st Century take on Secret Wars combining the mainline and ultimate Marvel Universes if we wouldn't see a plethora of alternate reality tales that tried to take advantage of the many, many plot threads the combination left lying around. That's not to say I wondered if the characters would be used--of course they were going to continue, the popular ones at least (I doubt

After tackling Champions: Outlawed, of course, I'd get around to catching up with Miles Morales. But Similar to the Ms. Marvel book, its connections to the bigger Outlawed story were pretty limited apart from one run-in with CRADLE.But I suppose that was understandable given the bigger problem represented by Ultimatum, who has been the main antagonist in this run for some time now. Things heat up when he captures the Prowler mainly because he has determined that he comes from another universe -
*4.5 rating*- Liked Rio expressing her concern, admitting that she has live life with “blinders” on and lies to herself about the danger Miles is in every day. Her perspective means a lot because yeah, she’s his mother, but she’s also a nurse. As she puts it, “I’m a head nurse. I see injured kids all day long. DEAD kids. The world is VICIOUS. These people aren’t CRAZY for thinking we all need to be more CAREFUL, is all I’m saying.” - Story has parallels to our world today, where we have become d...
Stop destroying Miles emotionally!!!
I think one of the reasons while Miles Morales is so popular (other than being a wonderful example of diversity in a character) is that he feels very much like "one of us". Miles handles things phenomenally, but also seems to be more human or down-to-earth than many other superheroes. While this Volume seemed pretty straightforward, I think it will have ramifications for the future of the character.Highlights:- Miles takes his new baby sister with him out on the town. But when Spidey needs to hel...
This deals with a new villain, Ultimatum, is taking over Brooklyn with the aid of the Green Goblin. I'm sure that someone familiar with the old Ultimate universe would have figured out the identity of the character prior to it being revealed. This collection also has the birth of Miles' baby sister, Billie Mariana, who actually ends up going on an adventure with her older brother early on. We see more of Miles' uncle Aaron, The Prowler who is turning back to his darker ways, while trying to main...
Miles gets sucked into the Outlawed event which I've found very lame so far when I've encountered it. I do like the lesson in civics we get from Miles's friends as they protest CRADLE. Then we have a sequel to Spider-Men II as Ultimatum returns and tries to send Miles and his family back to the Ultimate universe. The writing is solid if not spectacular. My favorite part of this entire book is when Miles helps out a kid who is being picked on for making his own clothes.
This was a really solid slice of Miles Morales Spidey. In this volume, Miles has a final(?) showdown with his evil counterpart, Ultimatum, with a little help from his uncle Aaron (the new Prowler), Bombshell, Starling and Captain flippin' America. There was more than enough action, some real intrigue, some nice character moments and a bittersweet ending. What more could you want? Oh, the artwork was really good, too.My next book: Osama
This is probably the most consistent series Saladin has written for me. Miles stays interesting as the writer has got his voice for the character down so well. On top of that the art is perfect mix of comics/cartoon with great coloring. So Miles now is taking care of his little sister on top of everything else. Luckily he loves doing that but he also has to save lives while doing it. A nice little one shot shows just who miles is and why he deserves to be called Spider-Man. ON top of that we get...
The book starts off with some small adventures for Miles but then things heat up. We learn Utimatum’s endgame as far as what he’s trying to do and it ain’t good. So now, Miles and The Prowler are trying to take down all these mini Goblins, a clone of Miles and Ultimatum. Luckily, some of Miles’ friends show up to help. Pretty crazy ending to this volume and I’m curious as to the fate of one of the characters in here. Plus loved Carmen Carnero’s art. Bring on volume 5!
As the volume features the conclusion of the Ultimatum Saga – named after the evil Miles Morales from Earth-616 – the first issue opens with a bit of light fun before the darkness kicks in. As his parents gone out for some brunch, the heroic Miles has to babysit his little sister Billie by showing her streets of Brooklyn. However, when someone gets trapped in the sewers and is chased by a mutated alligator, Miles has to be the big brother and Brookyln’s friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man for the
Liked this one, though there's a lot going on (probably too much). Ultimatum wants to send Miles back to the Ultimates universe (wait a minute--I thought that was all taken care of with Jonthan Hickman's run on Avengers? there shouldn't be an alternate universe anymore, right?). Miles runs into a clone version of himself. The Ultimate Green Goblin is after Miles and his friends. Then there's the C.R.A.D.L.E. business, which seems like a pale imitation of the superhero registration act from Civil...
4.5 stars
This was such a great one!Miles and his sister have an adventure while Prowler works for Ultimatum while in some other area miles has to deal with CRADLE agents and we see the ramifications of Outlaw and in some other place he is fighting his clone and they bring him to Ultimatum and we finally see his plans and Miles learns his identity and that was the cool part and I love how the writer makes use of continuity here.Plus Miles friends are protesting CRADLE agents and then we have Cap to the re...
Four volumes in and I've never really vibed with Saladin Ahmed's Miles Morales series. It offers nice glimpses of Miles' home life and is intermittently humorous and dramatic, but for the most part seems focused on bland action scenes. The big reveal here is that Ultimatum is a version of Miles from another reality. Or something like that. I don't think that's a spoiler - I think that was revealed long ago in one of the Ultimates series. But my lack of knowledge about the Ultimates, Ultimatum, or...
Everything old is new again as Miles' past in the Ultimate Universe comes back to haunt him. With the threat of Ultimatum on his tail and his uncle Aaron still on the outs with the law, plus a new baby sister to deal with, what's a Spider-Man to do?I hated Spider-Men II. That's no secret. It went nowhere, had no payoff to anything we'd been teased, and took bloody ages to come out. So when Ultimatum's identity was revealed, I had VERY low hopes. But Saladin Ahmed manages to use a horrible story
Liked this a lot! I'm really enjoying Ahmed's Miles & his Spidy run! So far this series is well written, it has good action and great Spidy characterization. There were a bunch of little things that I liked about this volume: The first issue with Miles and his new baby sister Billie was cute. Very irresponsible, but also, cute.Miles's hang/walk-to-school with Kenneth was really sweet. Miles is such a good kid. <3Dum Dum Dugan with C.R.A.D.L.E.Billie has a Spider-Ham (seen at the restaurant in is...
FINALLY! So they Hulk smash the ending together and we get the big reveal to Miles that Ultimatum is his 616 counterpart...gone evil. Let me gripe about the art for a second. Miles' best friend...Ganke has 'random ethnicity disorder' in this collection. He looks like a heavy set caucasian, a heavy latino, a heavy Samoan, and a heavy Korean American.......art team? please be consistent. Also, this happened during 'Outlawed' and the Kamala Act and there's a one panel reference to it. Is that becaus...
Miles always has so much heart, and his stories are so much stronger for it. This touched on a lot of emotional issues and it's unapologetically political/anti-fascist when we need it most.
