Abervan: Quirni Book 6

An MSDD agent risks her life to warn Eljay of Marrilian ships on their way to destroy Quirni. Marril's QSDD Commander, Mitchel Derek, is behind the attack. Erica finally escaped political office only to face this impending war, and this when James has finally come home to her with the miracle of understanding. It could be too late to save their marriage as both of them are weakened from the separation and Erica is piled with work to save Ipet. Erica has no time to enjoy his company as she tries to thwart the aggressive commander.

Commander Derek wants to turn Ipet into a military dictatorship under his rule. For decades he has blackmailed and killed in order to take over land trying to control the Councils on Marril and Sirrus. With control of the councils, he expects to take over Ipet but then Matilda and Erica's activities make Quirni a threat he hadn't planned upon.

The Claimants of Sirrus and Marril are powerless to stop him due to lack of evidence and fear. He attacks their children, their homes, and he can change evidence at will. Even if brought to trial, he controls the judges. No one aware of his plans for power can fight him.

The only hope for Ipet lies within Erica's past as Eljay, the hated Marrilian criminal. When she was on Marril, she stole Commander Derek's drive, which has all of his business dealings on it showing her exactly where she can hurt him. She is loath to become involved in any struggle for power, fearing it will make her a claimant again. It takes Matilda on her knees to convince Erica she must help or all of their lives are at risk.

Matilda knows Derek must destroy all Kinsleys, Eljay especially, if he is to win his bid for power. Eljay is too cunning to let survive. Matilda convinces Erica to use her blackmailing, hacking, and business knowledge to save them. She then sits at Erica's side to witness Erica whittle away Derek's control on Marril and Sirrus, in part to make sure Erica does not realize how every claim she wrests from him submerges her deeper in the politics she hates.

Erica's friends, relatives, and the QSDD gather to support and protect her as they race to hide from bombs and ready for war. If she fails, Quirni will be invaded by a far superior force and all of them will be at Derek's mercy. If she succeeds, what type of ruler she will be?
