This was an interesting enough continuation off the first book, but ultimately I felt like it was a little unnecessary and that the first volume stood better on its own. This continues directly from the end of volume one but I just didn't feel like it presented its message in a very powerful way. Still an interesting sci-fi series though.
Unlike the first volume, this conclusion to the story ends up getting overwhelmed by its metaphors. The story takes a back seat to the tone (and the art is still not really serving the story's content, although it does help push the metaphors and themes), as the ramifications of the previous volume's finale play out. The entity may be gone, but his impact is still felt, and things are falling apart. The parallels to the modern world are laid on relatively thick, with a conclusion that aims for h...
The story makes less sense in this volume. It's difficult to tell if events are real or in someone's mind. There is too much horror and not enough scifi. I feel that all the intricacies of the story are lost on me. I can't think of a different style of artwork that could would have made the story more accessible. Basically, the Entropy wasn't destroyed before, so it tries to destroy humanity again. You know, same old. I'm not smart enough to figure out the ending. Or maybe I just stopped caring....
Equal parts interesting but also unnecessary sequel. While I don’t like cliffhanger endings, I do like some open ended stories, like the first volume. I get that they’re all stressed out, but some of the decisions people made in this volume just seemed odd. Also, still not a big fan of the art.
I wanted so badly to love this book. The main character could be amazing! Maybe she is, hell I don't know because I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT WAS GOING ON IN THIS BOOK. Definitely a heady premise, but so mucked up in details. I finished it hoping it would all tie together for me. Alas, it did not.
I kind of think that a second volume wasn't necessary. That may be partly because a big part of this book revolves around mass unrest among the general population, but we literally never see or hear from any of the general population.
I probably would have been happy to just have read the first volume - still interesting enough, but YMMV.
Pointless follow up to something that may have ended a little ambiguous, but not in a cliffhanger (enough that I needed a second volume, at least).Boring.
Not as good at all as the story arc of the first volume
Definitly not as powerful as the first, the narrative was a bit muddy at times. The artwork was still great if not even better than the first volume.
Actual rating: 2.5 stars. This just wasn’t my cup of tea so take this review with a grain of salt. It was a bit too philosophical for my taste and the art didn’t really help matters. I would sometimes lose track of what was going on because the art wasn't clear. It wasn't terrible but this series could have ended after one volume and I would have been just as happy.
