My Brother Lambert (Pageant of History Books)

My Brother Lambert (Pageant of History Books)

Philip Rush
3/5 ( ratings)
From the inside flap of the dust cover:

This is the story of a vain young man who is made the tool of unscrupulous plotters against the life of Henry Tudor. His adventures at the hands of a lawless priest and his confederates make one of the most exciting episodes in the long history of the Wars of the Roses.

Lambet Simnel tells his sister Blanche of the priest's plans for him to impersonate the imprisoned Earl of Warwick, and later to seize the throne as Edward VI. Blanche is horrified, and events move fast as she decided to warn the king that her brother is a traitor. She escapes imprisonment and execution by the priest, becomes the queen's messenger to her husband, only to find herself practically a prisoner in the king's retinue as he travels the country to gather an army and makes his plans to foil the rebels. Guarded by the very attractive Richard Carvel, Blanche waits in suspense, knowing that if her brother wins he is likely to be killed by his friends, and if he loses he may be killed in the fighting. She takes a leading part in the adventure and intrigue before the final battle of Stoke Field which brings this tale of plot and counter-plot to a superb climax.
