Fiona the famous Hippo, has her own books and this one is all about helping a friend. When Fiona realizes that she has not heard her friend, Matilda the Kookaburra's laugh all day, she knows something must be making her sad. Matilda gets the other zoo animals together to ask them to help cheer her up. They tried all kinds of things to make her laugh, but nothing. Then they found a box that said "Lost & Found" full of things. They dressed up and laughed at themselves. They headed back over the Ma...
Absolutely and completely adorable. The second in a series, this book follows the sweet baby hippo Fiona and her zoo friends as they do funny tricks to cheer up a friend who is sad. The story itself is so cute, but my daughters (age 3 and 7) and I enjoyed the pictures so much. After the first time through, my 7-year-old asked me to go through it again just so she could look at each cute zoo animal picture. I'm grateful for the advanced review copy of this book I received from #netgalley and the
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this amazing book. It was a fun, cute and easy read. Between finals and just every day life I haven’t had the time to read any big books. I have come back to children’s books because they are fun and a quick read. My sister and I read this book together and loved it. The art style was just magnificent and the pictures themselves were so cute, making me crack laughs throughout the book. I have believed and I will always believe that children’s books shoul...
Challenges: Book-A-Day in May 2021 (23/31); Reading Goal Posts/Stacking the Series - Priority Three/Tier Seven. The third of three visits with Fiona on this day in May. A little shorter story here than prior books in the series. Something is lost and must be found when not all of the voices are being heard one day at the zoo. Fiona rounds up all the animals with her usual gusto of "We've got this!" to cheer up a friend who is down as we are some days for no reason; but to be reminded that we wil...
-Disclaimer: I won this book for free through Goodreads giveaways in exchange for an honest review.-A charming and amusing children's book! The message is clear and the writing is simple. The illustrations really bring everything to life. You can tell the illustrator had fun doing the pictures. I liked that a hippo and a kookaburra are used for a change in a kid's book. The book is sure to bring a smile to everyone's face.
A sweet book about what it means to be a good friend. I am a teacher and I read this book to my students. Prior to reading this story, we had fun learning about the real-life Fiona. The book has beautiful illustrations and an important message. My students really enjoyed it! After reading this book, we brainstormed ways that we can all be good friends like Fiona was to Matilda. I was very pleased to win a copy of this book on goodreads, thank you!
With the most adorable pictures, a sweet story, and animals that are already loved by many this book is sure to brighten any child's day. I voluntarily received and reviewed a complimentary e/copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
Fiona books do not disappoint. She is worried about her friend Matilda who has not laughed all day and seems really sad. She is going to help Matilda find her laugh again. When a reader picks up a Fiona book they know they are going to get a happy story with a light lesson that kids will treasure.
Who doesn't love Fiona? Anyone who had elementary age children during quarantine are probably familiar with her thanks to the Cincinnati Zoo and their awesome Facebook page! This book is a cute story about Fiona and her friends at the zoo and a bird who lost her laugh. The zoo crew works hard to help their friend feel less glum. A great story for these trying times. The illustrations are awesome and the story is cute!
I enjoyed this sweet story of Fiona and a group of friends trying to cheer their sad friend up. The writing style was pleasing and the illustrations were visually stimulating and a little unusual, but very fun. Many thanks to the author and NetGalley for gifting me this arc in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.
Living near the Cincinnati Zoo, Fiona is truly loved by the city. This story follows her and her friends and they realize that Matilda, the Kookaburra, isn't laughing and is sad. Fiona is on a mission to bring the light and humor back to Matilda to cheer her up. I highly recommend this book as well as the other Fiona books! I just love her!
This is a Children's book that I read to my twin boys. I have to say I loved this book. It has a great message in it. This was a fun book with very cute pictures. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Zonderkidz) or author (Richard Cowdrey) via NetGalley, so I can give honest review about how I feel about this book. 5☆ A Very Sweet Book about Friendships and Looking after each other. Fiona Helps a Friend is a story all about working together to cheer a friend up when they become sad. Fiona and all her friends at the Zoo haven't heard Matilda the Kookaburra laugh all day and they start to become concerned. So they decide that the best thing is to try and cheer up Matilda by making her laugh. But unfortunately Matilda is just too sad. They try so hard, making funny faces, doing there best moves but nothing wo...
Another great one with wonderful pictures! I laughed along with Fiona and her friends as they played dress up and tried to cheer up their friend.
As a fan of the real Fiona and her books, I have to say that this latest one doesn't disappoint. It shows her and her friends getting together to help cheer up a sad friend. It has a good message and fun illustrations. I highly recommend it along with the other books, as well as looking into her story if you haven't before. This unbiased review is based on a complimentary copy provided by the publisher.
When a friend looses their laugh, something inside you lacks too. Fiona lives at the zoo and when her friend Matilda does not do her belly laugh squawk, Fiona gets the rest of her friends at the zoo to help her friend out. Fiona is a sweet hippo and a good friend. Friendship is done in community and what better community than the zoo. The illustrations are unique with a great message on friendship. A Special thank you to Zonderkidz and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest
Fiona wants to cheer up her friend, Matilda. She enlists the help of the other zoo animals and they create a fun dress up parade to help Matilda feel better. Lovely story of friendship and appreciating each other.
Just like Fiona the Wonder Hippo herself, this was a cute and warmhearted story. Children will love the colorful illustrations and playful antics of the zoo's animals. Parents will love the message of friendship and the power of laughter as Fiona, an adorable hippo, and her zoo friends try to find their friend Matilda's laughter again. This simple but powerful message will be enjoyed by parents and kids alike.
"I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own." The illustrations were fantastic. I thought it was odd that Fiona never asked her friend what was wrong, but she did jump in and "fix" at least the perceived problem. It was a cute little picture book.
Like so many people, I fell in love with Fiona when the tiny hippo was first born. I was thrilled to see the option to review the ARC for my sweet Fiona’s book!! The book itself is Fiona and her zoo animal friends helping Matilda the Kookaburra find her laugh again. It’s a great message about helping friends and the pictures are so adorable. Perfect book!
