We've been watching the Mindy Project (a rewatch for me, first time for my husband) so when I saw this series of six essays by Mindy Kaling it was an obvious download. This was probably the only one that annoyed me, a lot! That was until the last page, I did enjoy her character development and the realization of what she was doing was weird and reading about how her outlook changed. The only downside is the fact that this could´ve been part of one book with essays instead of publishing it separately.

Honest and Entertaining What a entertaining and fun essay. Mindy is a Clever writer with a positive attitude and perspective. I listened to the audio book, And it was fun to hear Mindy narrate it herself. I’m looking very forward to reading the rest of this series.

A short anecdote in which Mindy learns that paying it forward can be pretty expensive, AND that gratitude cannot be taken for granted. It's a good ending to the series of essays.

I read each of the installments of this "book" over the last two days and this was my very favorite. I like Mindy. I like her a lot. She writes in a very realistic, believable way. I can relate to everything she relays even when it's about Hindu rituals, or Indian food with which I have no association. The perfect, quick read to perk you up late in the evening after watching 1.5 hrs of a tense, political debate 😬

This is part of a collection of essays and I'm going to give it an overall rating of 3.5 rounded up to 4. I listened to these on audio book and Mindy Kaling comes across as extremely personable and funny. It felt like i was listening to a friend tell me about her weekend.

I picked up Mindy Kaling's essays on Amazon, and read one in between my January and February TBR. Although I started on the 6th essay in the series (oops), I enjoyed reading her thoughts as I absolutely adore her! What I liked about this is that she is being very real. There is nothing wrong with liking to be acknowledged for a nice deed you did, just beware you aren't truly being generous. You are expecting a pay back in some form. She realizes this and owns it. And maybe you can say she grew from it because she did then give to charity and really felt good about herself.

this was a great step in the direction to get out of my current reading slump and indecisiveness about what to read next. Kaling is smart, witty, funny and spot on and reading this piece was such a delight. i look forward to reading the other pieces in the series. This is the last essay, and I'm sad that there is no more. I love her writing!This essay even had a bonus story at the end, and frankly, that one made my day! It was so much more personal, and with the photos, gave the reader a real glimpse into her daily life. Who doesn't want to know that?!Such lighthearted, fun stories that I definitely recommend to you all!

Some of these were better than others, but all were enjoyable and all were like listening to Mindy speak directly to me like we’re BFFs, which is all I really need, tbh. Such a fun quick collection to palate cleanse and transition between books!

Loved this essay on the topic of what it means to be truly generous.I adored Mindy’s whole collection, and I can absolutely picture myself reading and/or listening to it all over again in the future. Highly recommend!My only complaint is that I wish this was in print so that I could buy a copy for my personal library 😉

Mindy ends her short story collection with a story about learning what generosity actually is, and then as a bonus, she includes what a day in her life looks like with pictures.

I just love anything Mindy does or says! She is just so down to earth and funny and those quick essays are a great way to get a quick dose of her life and mind! Love it!
