This short story is about how selfless motherhood is and how mothers are willing to give even their "joy" when they have nothing left to give. It depicts the suffering of a women who is yearning to be a mother and the problems she faces.I found the story very uneasy and unsettling but that's how fiction can take us places where reality never can.
creepy!
One of my favorite stories from "What it Means When a Man Falls from the Sky", and the only 1 of 2 I gave a five star rating. It was chilling and scary. Just perfect.
A short “horror story” with glimpse of folklore. I found the story very interesting that I reread it over and over. Overall the book is about understanding that perfection comes at a cost
My comments for “Who Will Greet You at Home” by by Lesley Nneka Arimah. It is rare to read something was was most definitely written by a woman. I heard as a New Yorker Fiction podcast ”ZZ Packer Reads Lesley Nneka Arimah”, and only afterwards in the discussion did I understand the significance of the hair. A compact, strange - and at the same time insightful - story.

A tale of motherhood and the pressures of being and becoming a mother. Reads like it’s based in folklore.
Magical realism at its finest! Read aloud by ZZ Packer on the NY Fiction Podcast (plus a discussion afterwards..of how much children take from their mothers, how much women are willing to give to be mothers, and how much children “deserve” from their “mothers”). Would you trade your empathy and some hair to have a child of your own come to life?
Een kort verhaal, maar wauw, nu moet ik haar collectie korte verhalen meteen gaan bestellen.
Freaky, creepy, insightful. Original, surreal and dark.
This was so unexpectedly creepy. Super intriguing and captivating. Once I began reading I probably asked myself twice, weather this was what I thought it was. I don't want to give away too much, but would definitely recommend it. Its a quick read, but it takes you on a creepy and sinister ride.I was able to decipher a message of a mothers love and also, the will to have the prefect child and the pressures of society leading to desperation of self fulfillment. The obsession of wanting a baby for
Wow. This was an amazing short read. Terrifying and very much grounded in folklore which I love. Don't think I will be able to forget this one soon...
