X OF SWORDS Part 5This was very good. We got to see Storm and T'Challa, which was nice. Three swords down, seven to go.
In my opinion the strongest of the 3 issues released on October 7, 2020. Stories are strongest when they operate in a fashion where you can logically guess what may happen later. This is one of those issues.
Ruined Ta-Nehisi Coates's Work Well, this issue was yet another crash and burn of the Ororo (Storm)/T'Challa (Black Panther) relationship. Smh. As with their marriage, Marvel decided to create a situation to ruin the only African relationship in the Marvel Universe. Don't get me wrong, Vita Ayala wrote it wonderfully, giving Storm the ultimate reason for her betrayal of T'Challa's family and country--protection of the world. Yes, of course, the world is at stake in the new X of Swords event so S...
I loooove this Storm-centric issue because I felt that her character has been sidelined since HoX / PoX. Seeing Shuri engage in a political standoff with Ororo is also a huge bonus! I enjoyed this story and felt more invested in it than I did with Logan's story in this week's Wolverine and X-Force. Shuri and Ororo's dinner conversation absolutely raises an interesting question re diplomatic ties between Wakanda and Krakoa. Why shouldn't Krakoa vie for global political and economic dominance in o...
Excellent issue! Can't go wrong when you focus the story on STORM ⚡⛈️
Since relaunch Marauders, alongside New Mutants, has (IMO) consistently punched the highest and been head and shoulders above the rest of the relaunch. It had achieved this through a pretty tight arc combined with an almost perfect pitch of impactful story telling mixed with the ability to gently poke fun and laugh at itself which worked well throughout. This is of course all secondary to the amazing Kate who we all know and love! This issue does away with the light heartedness, uh oh.... But no,
Storm at her best and how she should always be written. That is all.
Storm travels to wakanda in a attempt to borrow the fabled sword skybreaker but is met with resistance and decides one way or another she will wield the mighty sword.
Vita Ayala and Matteo Lolli are very good at comics. Packed with truth, emotion, and heart, this installment of X OF ⚔️ was great. Loved it. "Never doubted you for a second, darlin." ~Logan
Damn. It's good to see Storm show off her power. Instead of being Kate's buddy. I like their friendship but Storm deserves more than being a supporting character in Marauders. I had no idea Storm and T'Challa had gotten back together! There are so many comics out there that I don't read but from the sound of things I'm really missing out.The X of Swords event is so enjoyable! Ready for more.I recommend reading N.D. Jones' review of this issue. She shares an interesting and worthy insight to Stor...
