The earth is on her last leg. Mega natural disasters has dwindled the population, reshaped the planet and created new monstrous creatures. A message was sent from deep space that the next disaster will destroy the earth but they can rescue 5000 children so the human race will live on. Pretty dope premise with great execution. It’s a mad dash to get to the extraction point before time runs out. Solid artwork, great pacing and a really cool story that had some sad moments that hit me right in the
We Live follows the journey and experiences of two siblings as they are brought to be save the crisis that is wiping humans off of the planet. I loved the art and the colors that really made this book stand out. The character designs were very well made and so were the mutated/evolved animals that are seen in this issue. The Earth has become hostile towards humans and seeing the different threats that could plague these people was really interesting, but at times there was a lot going on and a l...
This first issue was truly remarkable. The coloring and the character art really was top notch. This is a dystopian story about a brother and a sister trying to make it out alive of a world which is currently in rumbles. I recommend this book to everyone who like the 5th wave.
A pretty solid first issue. The character designs and coloring are top notch. I liked that there is a QR code for accompanying music on the first page. The book is set 50 years in the future on a ravaged Earth. Earth is soon going to die. Aliens have sent devices to allow 5,000 children to leave the planet. The children and their guardians now need to make it to the extraction points through jungles full of mutated creatures.
What a hidden treasureI was recently in my friend's comic book shop when I came across "We Live". I'm a sucker for a good indie book, but I haven't read much from AfterShock. I usually say more towards Image. Anyways, I was initially sold on "We Live" by the art, but after finishing it I'm so curious about the story. 2020 has been a wild year where unexpected things continue to happen. I find that to be the perfect time to do a book like this. It's basically a look into a post apocalyptic world....
I did not expect to like this book as much as I did! I was intruiged by the premise of the book but I didn't expect it to be more than a simple childrens book. It absolutely was though! The graphics are gorgeous to begin with. I loved looking at the drawings. They are not just there so you can imagine what the people and surroundings look like, they are actual works of art.The other thing I did not expect which made me love this book even more were the QR-Codes. They are youtube links and when yo...
The art is beautiful. And horrifying. I'm not...super into the story yet. But I tend to need more than 1 issue for that anyway. It's definitely intriguing. It's kinda a common theme right now, post-apocalyptic worlds navigated by youth is a thing. But it manages to set itself apart.
Wow. This felt like such a ride! My heart is still reeling... It's the end of the world. Like the real ending. There's no tomorrow. Some children will be saved from this. But the journey, OH MY GOD. Mutated animals, cultists... It's not a walk in the park. There are QR codes throughout the book that correspond to the original soundtrack too, to add to the atmosphere. Really an awesome read. Many thanks to Diamond Book Distributors for the complimentary e-copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinio...
I read the FCBD edition of The Last Days. This had a great hook and surprising ending. I will definitely be on the look out for the trades in the near future.
Great artwork and colouring for a cool post apocalyptic world setup
Totally amazing, and the code for the soundtrack genius. Really awesome art.
Color me impressed!
3.5
This was amazing. I'm glad to see it's only the first volume, and hopefully it'll be successful so that there will be more. The art is super gorgeous, and the story was thrilling and kept me on the edge of my seat. The character designs for our three little main characters were great, and I LOVED the creature designs as well. Also the ending was completely unexpected to me
Great first issue.
This book is a whole experience - between the songs peppering the album, that you are linked to through a QRcode to create a musical atmosphere and the post-apocalyptic world it is quite something. Nature is reclaiming the world in a violent way, the end is coming, but luckily 5000 children will be taken to safety by an alien race... or so we are told. While it could have been good, I found the intro and info-dumping a little heavy at the start, making for a slow read. There is a lot of world bui...
Wow BIG FAN!!!This is an amazing read. From start you lose yourself in the story. The human relation behind the story makes this comic a must read.
TW for book: gore, hanging, murder. The book contains images with gore. The book contains an image of a hanged person. The book contains explicit images of murder. These images are not shown in my review.--------------Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a digital copy of this graphic novel.I feel bad for not liking this book, because the art style was absolutely gorgeous. I also loved the use of colours: for sadder, more grim scenes they used pretty desaturated colours, while they used very...
