Light Shines in the Darkness: to every nation, tribe, people and tongue

Light Shines in the Darkness: to every nation, tribe, people and tongue

Donald Johnson
0/5 ( ratings)
About the Author Donald Johnson has a BA in political science, an MA in counseling psychology, and is a certified and licensed drug and alcohol counselor, until recently working in that field. He served in the US Marine Corps in the infantry and also in civic action/counterinsurgency in Vietnam from 1966-1967 and retired from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 1999. He spent a total of five years in missions in the Balkans. From 1991 to 2002 his work was short-term, one to two months at a time in Albania, Macedonia, and Kosovo. He spent two years full-time in Albania, 2003-2005, returning several more times after that. Don has been married to his wife, Jane, a registered nurse who worked with him in the Balkans, since 1983. He has taken several graduate-level courses at Seminary of the East's former location in Worcester, Massachusetts. His work in the Balkans included evangelical outreach; aid; pastoring a local church; assisting a now-thriving Christian radio station; working in a refugee camp in Durres, Albania, for Albanian Kosovars displaced by the Balkan wars; and assisting his wife in running medical clinics in local villages. He and Jane are currently nondenominational Christians. The theme of Light Shines in the Darkness: For Every Nation, Tribe, People, and Tongues, taken from the Gospel of John and Revelation, is that Jesus is the light that shines in every man and woman ever born, and that all are capable of knowing Him. The gospel is hidden in the mores of various cultures around the world and acceptance of Jesus is confirmation by the mind of what is already known in the spirit, however deeply it is hidden. Man spends his time looking for truth in philosophy, psychology, various religions, and political systems, and resists Christ, Truth personified, because of our natural fallen nature and our desire for self-deity. Man has been set free of this natural, satanically inspired self by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
