The Castlewood Laboratory at Libuyu School: a team joins together

Inayambo L.
0/5 ( ratings)
The Castlewood Laboratory at Libuyu Primary and Secondary School in Livingstone, Zambia was completed in 2020 during the Covid-19 global pandemic. This book includes photographs of many people who contributed to the construction of the laboratory. A donor list on page ix and x, educators honored are listed on page 62, and school staff are listed on page 68.

"A small act of kindness on a road outside of Livingstone, Zambia was the starting point for a minor miracle, namely the swift completion of the science laboratory at Libuyu Primary and Secondary School in the short span of three months. It was a project entirely financed by charitable contributions from strangers from another land. This book tells the story of how that happened and how the team coalesced to bring the plan to its glorious fruition. It starts with Ted Kunz, a man from Idaho, pursuing a dream to ride a bicycle from Cape Town to Cairo. He arrives in Livingstone and is held captive by the border closures caused by the global pandemic of 2020. His generous offer to help build a new science laboratory sparks others to give, and he finds himself surrounded by a dedicated group of school leaders and fast and efficient workers who labor in harmony to complete a much-needed new lab. The results are clear for all to see. As Ted told his donors, 'Together, we are planting the seeds that will grow over the next 50-100 years, the fruits of which will be more scientists, health professionals, teachers, and scientifically literate human beings.'" - Rich O'Hara, from back cover.
