In a city preparing for war, Demlas Jasec, bastard son of Tarkas, the Champion of the Gods, is doing what he does best: telling tales of justice and mercy, death and damnation, to anyone who will hear them, from a child in her sickbed, to his grandsire, fallen in battle.
The war brings in its wake a refugee priest, bereft of faith and cursed with certainty, bearing his own unfinished story, in which Jasec and his sire had and still have starring roles. Today his tale will begin again, as Demlas Tarkas also returns, to claim Jasec’s aid in his quest, his punishment, born from that unfinished adventure.
His mission? To kill a god.
