Liam is an Irish boxing champion living in post-famine Dublin. The famine has taken his entire family, estranging him from his brother and only living relative, Owen. Upon Owen's return to Ireland, he convinces Liam to take up their father's mantle as a freedom fighter and join up with the Irish Republican Brotherhood, a new organization dedicated to fighting for the independence of Ireland through means of armed insurrection.

But, when their plans for armed rebellion are exposed by British authorities the brothers are driven out of Ireland where they end up on opposite sides of the American Civil War. Now, Liam must do whatever it takes to find his brother and survive the war so they may reunite and return home.
