Beautiful. A mostly great end to a fun, vibrant, and imaginative series. Loved the Beanu people. Major nitpick: (view spoiler)[ so tired. Yet another main female character has to sacrifice herself. Why couldn’t Oona stay alive??? I guess she got reincarnated in the end. -_- (hide spoiler)]
The other books dealt a lot with learning and loving the diverse cultures on the other worlds. This one was all about the heroine's own struggles, how we saw her change and adapt, and what still blocks her from coming fully into her power. Also, cliche ending is cliche as hell, but I enjoyed it.
I found the pacing a bit unsteady in this one. I think the entire series bears re-reading, so that I have a better handle of what's going on in this final book.Full review to come.
This book. Just wow. What a stunning conclusion to this epic story. I got about half way through when I realized I probably should have gone back and read the entire series again in anticipation of the conclusion (I'm going to read all 5 together, later). I love the friendship between Oona, Jax, and An Tzu, and this step of the journey really tests their friendship, but they come through beautifully. I was NOT prepared for the ending in any way, but it was a beautiful way to end this most fantas...
In the finale of the 5 Worlds series, I’m going to be 100% honest…It wasn’t fantastic. Or even “Wow” worthy. Just, good. Like a 3.5 stars.-ArtAs good, detailed, and beautiful as always! Each character’s design fit the character. While each landscape, being an outskirt, an grand palace, or village, was well crafted to the culture of the place. Impressive!-CharactersOona Lee, our main character, while similar to many tropes, she actually does something NEW. Freaking new. I’m impressed. When you’ve...
I was a bit confused with some of the transitions in this volume. Also the ending was a bit obscure, but overall a great ending to a solid story.
Not as good as the earlier books in series but still a satisfying conclusion. This one had too much content for the number of pages. The plot was interesting but I was muddled much of the time with what was happening. Oona, An Tzu, and Jax were successful but not in the way I expected. And Grimbo (E), the planet, is just confusing.
The closer to this series was incredible, and I am so glad that it was a discrete arc. The authors did an amazing job with the story, the art, and drawing you in to the adventures. Highly recommended for YA graphic novel fans or those that love great tales!
A great final volume to a great series. Students in my school library spread the word of this series like the living fire 😆 and I already have a long wait list for this final installment
Solid ending to a great series. It didn't all exactly turn out the way I was expecting. The ending is a bit vague and leaves the door open for more adventures. This is surely a world I wouldn't mind returning to. The recap in the beginning was essential, but it had been awhile since I'd read the earlier volumes; there are important callbacks that may warrant some re-reading. The art, as always in this series, is fantastic here.
It saddens me to have to part ways with these lovely characters as their journey comes to an end huhu. In all fairness, this is far from being my fav volume but looking at this series as a whole, I still highly highly highly highly recommend it.“There will always be little shadows for us to face” as Oona said, but division, violence or hatred will never be the solution. The overarching messages of unity, belief, community and embracing diversity were beautifully conveyed. The writers and illustr...
I have to say, that's not an ending that I was expecting. On the other hand, in a story that bent so many rules, that's not a bad thing. The story was totally complete, and I don't ask for a sequel, prequel or anything of the sort, but I'd love to see this same group tackle another group project at some point in the future. The concluding book of this series has been a long time in the making, and ever since I ran across the first book, I've wanted to see how this would work out.The magic of the s...
A nice ending for a good series.
I very much appreciated the recap in the beginning, and I needed it.I love that Oona is short and thick and cute and sweet, and that she and Jax are such good friends to An Tzu (even though he fell prey to the frustrating middle-grade "something is seriously wrong but I won't tell anyone!" trap). The true strength of this series is the art - the colors are vibrant and fun and bright, the settings are distinct and unique, the character design is solid AND they have outfit changes(!). Was it just that I haven't read the series for a bit that I found this final book disjointed at times? (I did go back and read the 4th book before reading this to refresh my memory.) The art was as wonderful as usual, and the ending tied everything up for everyone, yet I struggle with the aspect of exactly how the story was brought to its closure. I do not like it when stories are left hanging or when readers are left to make up their own conclusions so I should be very happy, yes? I wanted so m...
A Must-Read
It's over. Is it weird that I feel a sense of accomplishment? It's not every day I'm engaged enough in a series to actually finish it, so this is a rare event. While I didn't like this final instalment quite as much as some of the others, it's a satisfying conclusion to the series. Most plot threads are tied up, and the aftermath of the adventure is hopeful and sweet. I was confused at certain points in the story, but that may simply be because it's been a while since I read all the other books.
Great ending to the series!!!
A fine finale. A little weak, but it closed out the series well.
Brilliant ending! This was not how I saw it going! This had me hooked frustrated at kindle and forgetting to get myself ready for work as it dragged me in leaning to an ending I hadn’t forseen. It was well worth the wait! The beauty, calm, frustration, build up and brilliant story writing was so well rounded in this final instalment! Oona and her friends grow so much and the changes are so evident it is wonderful to see. No spoilers as it is an instalment that speaks for itself!
