Entertaining ReadPrincess Catie is at it again with her inventions, scientific perspicaciousness, and business acumen. Her friends try to set her up with men, but business, diplomacy, military action, and proving wormhole theory with real wormholes holds her attention more. I like the action, humor, and a touch of romance. I find the morality tales and social problems treatises intriguing. I look forward to another book.
Some poor writing, but Blanton's typical slow build to an exciting climaxThe ideas and stories are better it this book than the ones preceding it. The writing got a bit muddled by the first third, but it picked back up and the surprise ending left a satisfying conclusion. Also, no more of the crappy behavior of all the main characters promoting inadvisable use of alcohol. The story's good enough that that and the unnecessary and deceptive spelling of God as an expletive was about the worst of it...
Better First I’m glad this one didn’t end in a cliffhanger. I read this series because I have nothing else to read. Lol I suppose my only complaint with this book is the wondering storyline. One moment tension is building towards a space battle, then the next it’s about a guy who didn’t separate his recycling. The story line is just a little incoherent. But definitely worth reading in between your favorite book releases.
Another gem in the series.I enjoy the series very much. This is another good exposition in the series. There’s not a lot of action, just day today activities that people in the future have to do to survive. Katie a.k.a. princess Catherine is still a joy. She is now learning that there’s somethings that she hast to do in life that she doesn’t like, this is a lesson to us all. The character development is good as well as the interaction between the characters in the book it continually shows their...
Fantastic - but short.I mean absolutely no disrespect here. Just want to make that completely clear. I love your series but the books are just too short for me. I smash through them in one day!! Absolutely LOVE every single minute of it though. Thank you so much for being a writer. I don’t think I could ever do something like this. I will stick to being a wedding photographer!
I have to admit I'm of several minds over this book. I have liked the series it is part of from the start, but this is one of the weaker volumes. It seems there is a lot of scenes away from the main plot in the book especially in the first half, with some of the main characters just interacting socially. Additionally, there are various interludes where the author tries to show how the idealised society he has created deals with the darker sides of human nature such as race, personal gain, child
A good book but the author keeps expanding and expanding his cast and story lines. This book felt like it was 150 pages long because the big picture story advances so little. I was surprised to find the paperback edition was 256 pages but then I realized this was the result of the author spending time on a dozen different characters and story lines. My point being that, while I enjoyed this book, it made me concerned for the future of this series. The author definitely needs to start narrowing h...
Steady ProgressThis installment brings more complexity to an already multilayered universe. While thinly defined here, the reader is introduced to two new alien societies. It has been interesting to watch the contrasts between existing social standards and the idealized society at Delphi. The storyline promises continued interest with the newly defined aliens. This installment resolves a few story threads and openly leads into the next book.
Awesome Series This story of the rise of man in to the galaxy led by a genius and his super genius daughter was fantastic. I would be hard pressed to find a topic in this book that wasn’t covered. Racism, slavery, prostitution, bureaucracy, and living standards were all covered. I guess he missed how to deal with the global pandemic better. Matt would probably be good for that. .
Great as alwaysThe story and writing is great (as per usual with Mr. Blanton). However, I have one teeny tiny little gripe (MINOR SPOILER AHEAD); whenever Catie refers to Marc and Sam's new daughter, she repeatedly calls her ”niece”. But the child is her half sister not her niece. I don't understand why or how such a glaring mistake got through. Other than that, I really enjoyed the book and can't wait for the next.
Disability seems a little more edgy.I could be wrong about my perception of this particular book, however, seems to carry a roughness or an edge to it that the previous books in the series have not done so. It seems to have lost some of its innocence. Simplicity at the novel is meant to have a message communicated however I'm not real fond of bad language to accomplish that. Or adult situations for that matter.
Good readingThe series continues with the McCormack family and Corporations dealing with societal problems of racism, classism, sexism, elitism, crime, xenophobia within and without the Delphi system while both conducting alien warfare and diplomacy in their usual snarky manner. Catie finishes her high school and Academy years while contributing to the McCormack expanding empire.
Just a Wonderful StoryJust finished the 10th book and looking forward for the 11th. One thing you have to give the author is that he knows his space facts. Now I'm not near smart enough to know if he's just blowing smoke or not but I'm going to give him the benefit of doubt. This is a great story and I think the author did a great job with the characters and the action. I would without a doubt give this series Two Thumbs up and would Highly recommend this series.
