Had high hopes...obv way too short to get into much...& didn't love the ending.
Fun Stuff! What are we talking about in 2023: Peloton Classes in LA and NY, the Super Bowl in Glendale, Arizona (lol), and of course Cooper Blessing! Go Coop! This felt like a trip down memory lane and what a trip it was! It’s Labor Day Weekend, in 2023, and Cooper, Fray, Leland, UDG, and of course, Jake McCloud are back. Their antics kept me glued to the edge of my seat (as always). As for Coop, you are one wild and crazy guy!Posted to blog: https://books-are-a-girls-best-friend... and to Goodrea...
28 Summers is hands down my favorite novel by Elin Hilderbrand. So when I heard The Sixth Wedding was a sequel to that book, I was SUPER excited to read this short story immediately!! While this was a short, fast read (at only 76 pages)- I don’t feel that it was necessary. Hilderbrand did a great job of recapping 28 Summers, and we have a clear follow up of all of the characters, but I still don’t feel that it made the story any better or any worse. This was an okay read, but in my opinion 28 Su...
Oh c‘mon Elin....we needed more. I was just getting into it and then it was over. With 28 Summers being one of her most well received critically books, and a fan favorite, I think it definitely deserved a sequel. But we needed then this little short novella. It was a nice update on the characters lives. But it still left some open ended questions.....thus, begging the question, why did she write it and not finish the story?? 🤣😅 But. It was super cute.
A Pleasant Story. "The Sixth Wedding" was a quick and easy read. Actually, I don't think it was necessary at 76 pages. Lileost sequels, it fell short. Yet Hildebrand is such a good writer that I found pleasure in the story. The ending was weird. A marginal recommendation.
Well written novella that brings an uplifting closure to the sidekick characters from "28 summers". Set during Labor day weekend 2023 (post-pandemic times, though clearly Elin was too positive guessing we'd go back to normal life by next year; 2025 setting would have been more believable 😁), Cooper, Jake, Fray & Leland go back to Nantucket to re-do that 1993 weekend with better outcome. Link & Bess hook up with the idea of going steady and avoid their parents' dumb idea of "meeting only 1 weeken...
28 SUMMERS was my least favorite Elin Hilderbrand book, but I was still intrigued to read the followup novella THE SIXTH WEDDING following Mallory’s surviving family and friends in 2023.THE SIXTH WEDDING had too many storylines and points of view for a novella, in my opinion, but I’m still glad to read anything Elin Hilderbrand.
Having read 28 summers, I thought I would get some resolution reading this short book. However, I was disappointed as it offers no different point of views than was what initially offered in the original. As it was great to get reintroduced to the main characters again, I don’t feel this sequel was needed.
As Elin Hilderbrand tells it, this isn’t really a sequel. She said she wrote this novella for those fans who were unhappy with the ending of her novel, “28 Summers.” (My paraphrase.) I was quite fine with the ending of “28 Summers,” if anything is left open, I just imagine my own endings for each character. However, I also cannot resist reading anything Elin writes because I always enjoy reading it. Thus with this little gem. It’s optional, of course, if the ending of ‘28 Summers’ sat well with
I love this follow up to 28 Summers. Last year, when I read 28 Summers, I loved it so much and it’s one of my favorite books. But I don’t think I’ve ever cried so much reading a book. This short story about the characters several years later wraps things up for them well, though it was still awfully sad with Mallory missing. It was great to have the characters back in the original setting and a sweet story for them in the end.
Terrible, don’t waste your time. I know this story was just released but I’m confused by the positive reviews. To me, I felt like I was reading a short story assignment written by a 9th grader. Jake is written to be more unlikeable and once I got to the end I was wondering, did he ever love Mallory at all?
very below average book and something I wasnt expecting from Elin Hilderbrand. the book didnt make sense at all and I felt like the author has written it purely to cash in on the success of 28 Summers which was such a beautiful heart wrenching read.
