This booklet gives a simplified discussion of the elements of the theory of games and of some methods for solving game matrices. It contains almost no proofs proofs, but illustrates by examples basic ideas of the theory. A complete reading would require some acquaintance with the elements of probability theory and mathematical analysis. However, the first three chapters can be read by anyone with a background of advanced high school mathematics, and such a reader should be able to follow a major portion of the last two chapters.

The booklet is intended to popularize the ideas of the theory of games, a subject which has many practical applications in economics, business, and military affairs.
