0/5 ( ratings)
My Soul Is Deep And Wide is the jam of the thoughts and memories of Louis, a young man who is the product of the rape of his black mother by a white man and journeys from his home in the Deep South to New York in order to find the right to exist. There he meets the Gray family who are Jamaican and have a thirteen year old son named Terrance who wants to be a rapper. As Terrance grows as an artist and his family endures the dangers of racism and gentrification, Louis struggles to find belonging and a sense of meaning. My Soul Is Deep And Wide runs from the depths of despair to the zenith of love and the heights of transformation led by Oshun, orisha of love and beauty to whom Louis becomes a devotee. It is a celebration of Black culture, spirituality, and the miracle of the strength and beauty of those of African descent.
