I’ve always been slightly confused by authors writing under pseudonyms but this novel (written as Anthony Franze) struck me as noticeably different from Every Last Fear (written as Alex Finlay). While I really enjoyed the latter, I found The Outsider to be a clunky read with one-dimensional characters and a central plot development that couldn’t have been more obvious if it had leapt onto the page with a flashing neon sign on its head reading “here comes the plot twist”. Two stars as it was read...
This book was written a long time before Every Last Fear (which I loved) and to me, it showed. I would have liked the book to have been in more of a gripping style, but this one didn't grip me as much. The characters were plenty, and again I struggled with this aspect and think some parts could have been omitted to really keep me engaged throughout.I feel like it really highlighted Finlay's growth as a writer, and I would definitely continue to read his books!
Maybe 3.5 Harder to judge than the other Alex finlay books I've read this month, I found the majority of this book to be weaker than his other books but the ending was much better and honestly the relationships were quite warming... That was weirdly phrased but I'm sleep deprived
Super cool book. Very interested and fun
Yet another enjoyable legal thriller by AF.
