What is this new trend where audiobooks are published months before the physical/ebook copy and how do we stop it
Rep: West Asian/North African coded cast & setting, bi mc, gay mc, sapphic mcCWs: past suicide attempts, torture, attempted rapeGalley provided by publisherThe River of Silver is a book I loved listening to and a world I loved returning to. I listened to the entire thing in one day, unwilling to put it down even during work. Most of these stories and scenes were ones I had read as deleted scenes when they were posted online, but there was still something fresh and new about listening to them. It...
Why god is this being published as an audiobook first?! We'll have to wait and see if my loathing for audiobooks will be overcome by how badly I need to read this book. Stay tuned...
I very much enjoyed the stories in this collection. It was nice to get some other POVs from side characters. I enjoyed Zaynep’s story a lot and would have wished for another one. However, I decided against a rating. This wasn’t supposed to be a book but rather some stories for the author to understand her characters and some extra “goodies” she wrote during the pandemic. The stories aren’t necessary to understand or to read the trilogy but I enjoyed them anyways.
I love these characters and this world with all my heart. I want more 😭
“This is only the beginning of our story - your story, and you can make it whatever you want it to be.” My heart needed this. I miss Daevabad 🥺🖤😭
I really liked this short story collection 🥺🥺🥺I won’t spoil anything because it’s just spoilers back to back to back but I just….I can’t wait for what’s coming next I really can’t 🥲🥲🥲🥲
We'll be getting the physical/ebook version in Fall 2022 WOOOOhttps://twitter.com/SAChakrabooks/sta...
We are BACK in Daevabad and personally I could not be more excited! Just a heads up to anyone who’s unaware—The River of Silver is a supplementary collection of cut chapters and short stories set in the world of the Daevabad trilogy, so if you have not read that yet then this will not be the place to start! That would be The City of Brass, and I cannot recommend the series enough. For any longstanding and die-hard fans, this book has been a long time coming. We’ve been begging for (& sometimes ev...
A great companion to the trilogy. It was like a behind the scenes that I really enjoyed knowing about. Now there is nothing left but to continue missing the characters again.
Coming back to the world of Daevabad was like meeting an old friend after a few years a part, especially after the chaos of the last few years. Some of the stories unveil deeper political maneuvering; some make your heart bleed; some even reveal the start to something new. Simply, I'm in love with it all and then some."Amazing, how death might be more preferable to life in Daevabad."Manizheh (Story 1)I don't know if I can ever fully forgive her character and be empathetic to her actions, but thi...
the tears i have streaming down my face from that last nahri chapter i can’t breathe i cant stop crying MY PEOPLE !!! BEST PEOPLE !!!! FEELING ILL IN THIS MOMENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
reading these short stories and deleted scenes is making me want to reread the entire series. its so unbelievably good to be back in the world of daevabad again. i do wish these little intallments had been released as novellas alongside the main books - i think it would have had more of an impact in terms of plot. because i already know how the series plays out, the brief reveals dont really do much for me. but as far as the characters go, these short check-ins and additional moments make my hea...
I’d give this a river of stars!Warning - there will be spoilers for the Daevabad trilogy but not for The River of Silver. “From the palace walls Hatset could see Daevabad stretched below, the city dazzling in miniature, the tribal boundaries sprawled across it all like a web, ensnaring the lives of tens of thousands.“It’s breathtaking,” she said.” S.A. Chakraborty welcomes us back to the magical land of Daevabad in all its beauty, its glory and even its hidden cruelty. The River of Silver is a d...
As someone who does not typically enjoy short stories after a series is completed, I thoroughly enjoyed this collection. The author just has such an excellent way of drying the reader into the simplest stories. And yet there’s so many underlining things happening that you just can’t stop reading. This collection of short stories follows various characters throughout the trilogy. These short stories do contain spoilers for the different books therefore I recommend reading the original trilogy befo...
Absolutely brilliant, it was so satisfying to get a glimpse into the Daevabadi characters I missed so much. Also that Nahri and Ali chapter was everything I ever wanted!
December 15th, 2021:MIRACLE!!! WE'RE GETTING A PHYSICAL COPY!July 23, 2021:I need a PHYSICAL copy of this book more than I need air!PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN!
Check out more bookish thoughts and content here.I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This review is spoiler-free.Every fan of the Daevabad trilogy needs to get their hands on this collection of stories. Filling in a few gaps before, during, and after the series takes place, River of Silver is a gorgeous read that instantly reminds you exactly why the Daevabad trilogy is one of the best that modern fantasy has to offer. One of Chakraborty's many tal...
wow…WOWi thoroughly enjoyed (was in pain) The River of Silver especially the changes made in the previous chapters we had already read. nahri, ali, zaynab, and muntadhir have all been such central parts of the Daevabad Series and i loved seeing them brought back again although i wish one of them had a slightly happier chapter, i also really liked reading about the other characters especially hatset and duriya…hopefully we’ll one day be able to also read about saffiyeh as well. i just wish author...
