roller skating?!?! bitch, i’m in!!! there’re not enough lesbians who skate in ya. hope the cover isn’t false-advertising it.
TW// (view spoiler)[ mentions of cheating, alcoholic parent, toxic relationships, internalized racism (hide spoiler)]She Gets the Girl took me on a fun yet emotional journey that I was not expecting at all. It had the sweet lesbian romance moments that I was hoping for but it also had gut punches that left me on the verge of tears as I tried to process what I was reading. This book follows two freshmen in college who each have girl problems of their own. Molly has been crushing on a girl since h...
got called out over my daddy issues on page 8 so knew it'd be a 5 star read. rtc but let's say i related to these lesbians on a deep level...
4.5 stars! This is an absolutely delightful dual POV YA/new adult sapphic romance. I adored Alex and Molly, watching these two opposites attract lesbians realize they're not so different after all, become friends, and then discover that the girls they thought they wanted aren't actually right for them because they love each other!! So Molly begins college a socially awkward, shy, compulsive organizer whose best friend is her mom. Like, her mom is her only friend. Her mom, who was adopted from Ko...
Well, I basically read She Gets the Girl in one sitting while relaxing in the garden and enjoying the Easter sun. This story is a messy and punch-in-the-gut, slowest of slow-burn romance that I ended up liking a lot!Alex and Molly are flawed characters, to say the least. My eyes widened, and my brows furrowed as I read the first chapter, and I would have almost laughed out loud if Alex’s situation hadn’t been do tricky. And although I frowned at Alex, I also immediately recognized she had a lot
I thought this book was pretty fun, though I was left wanting a bit more!! I think both characters on their own were huge standouts--the authors created nuanced and complicated characters with tough backstories and issues well! I loved reading about Alex's struggles with her mom, who is an alcoholic, and Molly's struggle with social anxiety felt SO authentic to my own experience. I'm absolutely in love with the fact that this book takes place in college, as I don't think we get many of those.The...
I want to say so much about this book and I don’t know where to begin. Most importantly, I want to mention that as I was reading, I paused to think and feel that it couldn’t possibly get any more perfect. The authors do not attempt to reinvent the wheel. It’s the old “smooth Player is going to teach the awkward newbie how to get her girl” trope. We know almost immediately what is going to happen. Is it disappointing? Far from it, because the joy of this story comes from the characters emerging i...
4.25 stars. This was so cute. Player Alex helps socially awkward Molly get the girl she’s been crushing on forever. What’s in it for Alex? She gets to prove to her girlfriend (or at least she hopes that’s what she will be again) that she can be responsible and think about someone else but herself. It’s been said that this is like the movie “She’s All That” and it absolutely is. That includes the part where the socially awkward and unnoticeable MC (Molly in this case) really isn’t that at all. It...
THIS WAS!!! SO CUTE!!! PLS TURN THIS INTO A MOVIE!!! IT'S THE SAPPHIC COLLEGE ROMCOM WE NEED!!!
