Great book to fall asleep to! Needed so much more evidence and explanation of the science from proper sources. Action steps were included to say they were in there. No meaningful exercises or worksheets. Used the same examples of distraction again and again. Didn't acknowledge different kinds of distraction like kids or fears and doesn't acknowledge the psychology behind procrastination. Dreadful.
A compact version of the Atomic Habits but it also entails Dopamine, its effects, and what Dopamine detoxes actually do. A nice and short read/refresher overall.
basic stuff. nothing we didn’t already know Unless it’s marked down for free, no real need to get this book. Was basic stuff. Detox from your vices including social media.
Well. Dopamine is craving for more and this book promises to handle those cravings. Ironically, it does exactly the opposite, i.e. after finishing this book, one craves for more better books. My Positive Takeaway: If reading could be just so easy, why can I not read better books in life. As the title says, it's a short guide, so it's just like that. But it could be much better. There exists a good taste in reading and I really feel that this book could have gone in that direction rather than goi...
Book#8 of #2022Name: Dopamine Detox: A Short Guide to Remove Distractions and Get Your Brain to Do Hard Things (Productivity Series Book 1)Author: Thibaut MeurisseGenre: Self HelpNumber of Pages: 51Rating: 3/5Recommended for: People who are new to self-help booksVersion: AudibleMy Review: I started this book because the title was intriguing, and I learned a few things in the first few chapters about how dopamine controls our stimulations and our highs and lows. It also effectively describes the
It is good to have a reminder about all the distractions we have to deal with constantly in our lives. I had just recently decided to take a break from Facebook, the main cause of my distraction. It was good to realise most screen activity makes it difficult to focus and often to make a start on the day. I definitely suffer from this when I am on holidays. I procrastinate so much and put of simple tasks for way too long and achieve nowhere near what I hope to. This book pretty much reiterated wh...
A quick read that give me a huge impact on my daily life as it showed on how to deal with procrastination and be more productive everyday. I would say this book is more toward on how-to self help book because the author give step by step procedure on how to manage your procrastination and increase your productivity.Actually this is not the first time I heard about dopamine detox, I watched a Youtuber doing this and honestly I don’t really understand the principle behind it. But after reading thi...
"Dopamine Detox" by Thibaut is a good study for detoxing the mind. It is not an exhaustive book on the subject. But this material is another brick a person can add to their mental knowledge base for strength and development, in the area of internal focus and discipline. I encourage you to check out, "Dopamine Fast: To Reprogram and Detox For a New Rebooted Life" by Harry Harding. Both books are short and written in an easy to assimilate way. I find when I "fast" from TV, social media, music, st...
Dopamine Detox- Thibaut MeurissePublished July 3rd 2021Kindle Edition 51 PagesReading Time 1 hourI'm a dopamine junkie and I find I get addicted to things easily. As mentioned in the book the most common things people can become addicted to are of course drugs, but also exercise, work, social media etc. This book gives a lot of examples of how these distractions are keeping you from achieving your goals. At the end of every chapter there are some questions for self reflection as well as some act...
Not a word wastedI have downloaded a few similar sized books hoping for useful self help in a format that didn’t require me to wade through pages of fluff before getting to the points I really needed. So far, not so good. This book changed that. It was useful from the first chapter. Everything is geared toward practical advice that you can use immediately but tailored to your specific needs (you just need to put in a little extra time using the workbook provided by link). There are occasional sh...
More like a blog post than a book but got me back on trackYou don’t really need to read this book as you can find this info via other sources but as always, the author provides a nice summary so you get get out of your rut and move on. From reading the book I did a 24 hour dopamine detox which helped me reset myself and prepare for 2022 goal planning. This was more of a reminder of what I need to do than anything groundbreaking. A better read for foundational changes in your life would be Atomic...
It’s a good book if you want a quick refresher on how dopamine works and a few reminders and ways to do a detox. It will be really helpful for someone who has no knowledge of the subject but personally for me it was a really quick read as I already know a fair bit about the topic. (Literally took me only 30-40 minutes to read through the book with mild distractions in between too) I however am excited to try the 48hr dopamine detox exercise
A great short read that talks about the fundamentals of why we are so distracted today and concrete ways in which we can try to be more productive. The book doesn't talk about anything new, meditation, mindfulness, quitting social media, and journaling are all methods that can help us to avoid distractions. But sometimes the simplest things are the hardest to achieve. I really liked the succinct problem and solution approach that can be applied by anyone in our lives almost instantly.
"Your focus is a scarce asset, which is why marketers spend billions of dollars to attract your attention."Did you realise its importance now? This is a short read. Hardly 50 pages long. I started it last night and completed it today. But, the lessons in this book will make you take months to understand the depth.I will recommend it to everyone!! Please do read it. I don't want to explain much because this is a short read!
In the world of destruction's we can save from them and work mindfullyThe writer Wrote this book With practical mindset You can practice those action plans so that you can Practice in your real life. I enjoyed reading this book and it is not like others Productivity books And I highly recommended you To read this book. I hope you enjoy this book thank you.
If you're nuerotypical this should workIf you struggle with distractions and it relates to ADHD or another mental health diagnosis take it with a grain of salt. In theory, this should work but as anyone with ADHD (and is mindful of it) we chase dopamine with our distractions and hobbies.
Good, Quick ReadNothing the writer says is earth-shaking nor thought-provoking. It’s basic commonsense. Perhaps, though, that’s the power of the book: It reminds the reader of what he/she knows to do, intuitively or experientially, and offers motivation for doing. This motivation comes in the form of telling the reader what he/she gains by following through on the basic principles of productivity and what he/she loses by not doing so.
