holy crap. this book messed. me. up. this is one of the most exciting psychological thrillers i have ever read. im not a fan of the unreliable narrator trope, but there are certain instances when it can be used super effectively, and this is one of those times. it reminded me so much of ‘the flight attendant’ and the beginning of ‘the night of’ in that regard.and i LOVED discovering livs memories along with her. i became just as obsessed as she did. i know the whole situation is pretty unrealist...
After two disappointing thrillers that I did not finish I just had to jump ahead to an author that I was sure would not disappoint!! I’M SO GLAD I DID – THIS BOOK WILL KEEP YOU TURNING THE PAGES AT A RAPID PACE!!! If you guess the ending, you are a superstar because I didn’t!!The novel is written from the point of view of both Liv and Darcy, two of our central characters. There is also a dual timeline!!Liv Reese wakes up in a cab with no idea where she is headed or why she is in a cab!! When s...
4.5 STARSWhew.... This was a wild and exhausting trip! STAY AWAKE , DON'T SLEEP! WAKE UP!Liv Reese is in danger. She can feel it in her bones. She arrives at her apartment to find two strangers living there. "Who are these people? Where's my stuff?" Poor Liv finds herself entangled in a murder investigation referred to as "The Sleepless Killer". She has no memory of the victim or being near the scene of the crime. What an engaging read! It clipped along at a frantic pace. I could feel Liv's life
Remember that cute rom-com with Sandler and Barrymore called Fifty First Dates? Well take that scenario and switch the rom-com for a psychological thriller and you've got Megan Goldin's latest offering, Stay Awake. Liv Reese wakes up in the back of a NYC cab only to realize she has no idea how she got here or where she is. In fact, she can't remember the last two years. Her last memory was of answering a call at her work for Cultura magazine on a hot summer day. Her hands are covered in writing
Stay Awake by Megan Goldin *Imagine waking up and not recognizing where you are. Your last memory is a sunny day, a phone ringing at work, you picking it up...and that's it. Now it's fall, over two years later, and you have no memory of what has happened in those two years. You've written things like "STAY AWAKE" all over your hands and arms. But you can only stay awake so long before your body gives out on you. *Imagine waking up and not recognizing where you are. Your last memory is a sunny da...
STAY AWAKELiv Reese doesn’t know why she has this written in black pen all over her hands. In fact, she has no idea when she wakes up in the back of a taxi of how she got there, or why, in place of her cell phone, her pocket contains a bloody knife. (Think the TV show-Blindspot”) It’s because she suffers from a rare form of amnesia which can be described as repetitive dissociative fugue. When she falls asleep, she forgets everything that has happened over the past two years. So, she lives on ca...
4.5*Liv Reese awakens in the back of a cab with no memory of how she got there. Glancing down at her arms, she’s more confused than ever. They are covered in writing… with several prominent words, includingStay awake! And Wake Up!Meanwhile, the police are mid-discovery of a man’s body in a rental, with the same simple words scrawled on the window… WAKE UP! Now come on, We all know that can’t be a coincidence!😉Wow! This was quite the thrill ride!Poor Liv, every time she goes to sleep she loses
Woke by an Entirely Different Alarm.Liz can NOT sleep. She won’t let herself. Because everytime she lays her head down, she loses her immediate memory of all preceding experiences. She’s justifiably paranoid and probably in danger - in addition to being wanted by the police. If you’re familiar with the movie Memento, this has a similar frenetic pace featuring a confused and vulnerable character. How disconcerting it would be to go to sleep and then wake to discover that everything you’d experience...
Memento meets The Girl on the Train. A thrilling and twisty roller coaster ride through an amnesiac's mind!Megan Goldin is one of my favorite new thriller writers, and this killer read solidifies her as a superstar to watch. Our heroine, Liv Reese, wakes up in New York City with writing all over her hands warning her to "Stay Awake." She tries to return home and finds strangers living there. She soon realizes that everything she remembers about her life is gone....oh, and why does she have a blo...
One of the best thrillers I have read in some time! 4.5 stars Stay Awake is a riveting thriller about a woman with a rare form of amnesia that puts her in the crosshairs of a murder investigation. When Liv falls asleep, she wakes up not remembering. She is stuck in a time loop from two years ago. When she wakes up one night in the back of a cab in NYC with a bloody knife, she finds herself on the run, but she doesn't know who or what she is running from. The narrative is split between multiple ti...
An expertly plotted thriller that will cause you to stay awake until you read the very last page.Liv Reese wakes up in the middle of the night in NYC, in the back of a taxi…with no recollection of how she got there. She has writing all over her hands, and it’s her handwriting: messages telling her to “stay awake”, amongst other things. She has no phone on her, but finds a bloody knife in the pocket of her cardigan. She goes to her apartment, only to find strangers living there.Detectives Darcy H...
Insomnia robs like a thief in the night. It leaves zombie-like days bouncing madly in the pinball game of life. Eyelids begging to close up shop. Days and days past your bedtime. When a Megan Goldin novel arrives on the scene, you just grab it and clutch it to your chest. Stay Awake is in that category. Goldin comes up with a brilliant storyline encompassing the "what if's" that happen in life. She's hooked a winner here with the mysterious reality of those who suffer from the clutches of sleep d...

A sickening dread creeps through me. Something terrible is going on and I don’t have the faintest idea what it is.…“Lack of sleep does horrible things to a person’s mind,” said the social worker. “It can make some people psychotic.”Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Publishing Group for sending me an ARC of Stay Awake in exchange for an honest review.Stay Awake sounds like other books you’ve read and movies you’ve seen. Liv Reece keeps waking up in unfamiliar surroundings, with no memories of

She’s in a pickle with no cell phone or purse, but luckily, she finds cash in her pockets. The book toggles back and forth between the present and the past so we get to know Liv...
This book drove me crazy! The characters were annoying and I really hated the plot twist! I felt like it was a story with no point. Liv Reese looses her memory every time she falls asleep. She cannot remember anything that happened from the past two years stemming from a traumatic incident. Watching the news she sees a story about a crime scene where the same message wrote in blood is written all over her arms. What did she do last night? She attempts to put the pieces together of what happened....
