(free review copy) I loved EVERYTHING about this book written by my very favorite audiobook narrator, ABOUT an audiobook narrator ❤️ As a romance and audiobook fanatic, this checked ALL of my boxes and then some. The only thing is that now I’m so mad at myself for not being patient and waiting for the audio version because Whalen MUST narrate it, right??
This book is super unique! I've never read anything like it!Rating: 3/5Synopsis:For Sewanee Chester, being an audiobook narrator is a long way from her old dreams, but the days of being a star on film sets are long behind her. She’s found success and satisfaction from the inside of a sound booth and it allows her to care for her beloved, ailing grandmother. When she arrives in Las Vegas last-minute for a book convention, Sewanee unexpectedly spends a whirlwind night with a charming stranger. On
I thought the name sounded familiar!!! I never thought I'd ever get into audiobooks but unexpected things happen. I remember listening to I'll give you the Sun narrated by Julia Whelan and loving it. I hope to get an audiobook of this book as well, if it's narrated by the author herself. Also the story sounds interesting, I love anonymity 😂 (if my Goodreads username doesn't show that already)
Honestly, I fell in love with author’s debut novel “My Oxford Year” and I was so excited to start this one. I saw some mixed reviews, rolling my eyes, maintaining my objectivity! Normally at first chapter I decide my semi verdict about a book. As usual I started to read this one, and I was literally guffawing. It was hilarious opening! Then a few chapters later: I was hooked and as soon as Sewanee meets Nick, I was game! I literally started drooling over! The book glued to my hands! I couldn’t s...
I LOVED IT! SO SO MUCH! It delivered absolutely everything I look for in romance, the range of emotions I experienced was wild! The humor, the wit, the innuendos, the A + secondary cast, the romance genre references (and jabs!), the epistolary premise (HEART), the slow burn, the heat, the absolute chemistry between two cynicals getting the HEA they both sarcastically mocked and declared unrealistic expectation! AHAH!You know how with the grumpy/sunshine dynamic we love to witness the grump do th...
Thank You for Listening is a lot of things: a peek behind the curtain of show business, particularly audiobook narration and a glimpse into the film industry, a love letter to romance books, a touching exploration of healthy female friendships, realistic romances, family drama, learning how to move forward. Above all, it's an absolute gem of a story and is now in my top 5 favorite romances. It's another well-executed romance/women's fiction hybrid about a lot of things, but it's primarily about c...
An absolute delight.
This was a fun one! I really enjoyed the romance and their relationship. Their little cute moments literally made me cry. Swan was also a great main character and it was nice watching her development. The intimate moments were written in such a unique way, which made their moments feel infinitely more special. I did feel like the rest of the components of the story, for example, the other characters, were a little disjointed. The plot kept getting more complex and it got a little frustrating to
"What do you want, love?""I don't want to be in a book with you anymore. I want to be in real life with you.""However it may end?""Yes."Damn, I love those lines!Thank you to Edelweiss and the publisher for an ARC of TYFL.I was so excited when I finally was able to get my hands on this book. I adore My Oxford Year, and knew Julia Whelan was going to be a must read author for me. TYFL tells the story of Sewanee Chester, a former actress turned audiobook narrator, who agrees to narrate a romance no...
A fun—and sometimes—steamy glimpse into the world of Audiobook narration from the Queen of the medium. Whelan's second novel has all the elements of great storytelling—unique characters, family tensions, friendships put under strain, humour, and of course, a romance that might not work out. Kidding! Of course there's a happily ever after for all involved and in the most satisfying way. Put this in your audio queue immediately!
Many book lovers know author Julia Whelan from her award-winning audiobook narration work. But truthfully, I recognized her from her role on the brief but brilliant television show “Once & Again.” When I saw her name on the book cover for “Thank You for Listening,” I was intrigued, wondering if her writing would be as smart and poignant as her dramatic performance in the early aughts.“Thank You for Listening” is a treat. It’s sharp. It’s romantic. It’s funny. It’s melancholic. It’s about Sewanee...
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with this eARC!I really enjoyed this book and the characters. The love story was fun and I loved the email and text communication in the book. I know that can bother some readers, but I love how authentic the communication feels when reading transcribed messages between two characters. A lot happens in this book, and I think it might have been too much. There were a lot of subplots going on which made the book drag on a little bit. I think it is a little t...
Yes, YES, Y E S!!! My audiophile girlcrush, Julia Whelen, is writing another book. What are the odds she’ll also narrate? I’m unreasonably excited for this one coming August 2022!
3.5 starsThank You for Listening is an is a delightfully funny love story between two cynicals. Whelan has a way of writing that feels like the book is speaking directly to you and it lent well to making the reader feel immersed in the story. The chemistry between Sewanne and Nick was palpable and and the banter was great! If you are looking for a heartfelt, funny with a side of serious Thank You for Listening is definitely for you! Special thanks to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for sha...
I wish I could read this one again for the first time - it was EVERYTHING I Love in a book! I admit, going into it I was not familiar with Julia Whelan, but I had kept hearing about this book and was so lucky to be able to read an advance copy. The writing was quick and smart, the romance was GOOD and the perfect amount of steamy, I absolutely loved the characters. They have such heart and they are not one dimensional. Now, realizing that Julia Whelan is actually the queen of audiobooks, this mak...
Sewanee Chester, who once upon time was an actress on the rise, but following a tragic injury, chose a more behind the scenes career as an audiobook narrator. Sewanee takes a narrator job for a romance novel with a co-star, mysterious and infamous in the genre, Brock McNight. The chemistry was off the charts. THE BANTER. It was FANTASTIC. Reading their texts and emails was the highlight of the entire book for me. While reading this part of the book, I touted it would be a five star read.. my opin...
5 ⭐️ I absolutely loved this book! I adored Julia Whelan's debut, My Oxford Year, so I was thrilled to hear she had a new book coming out. The fact that Thank You for Listening is set in the audiobook world is just the icing on top of a very delicious cake. Whenever I'm in the mood for an audiobook I search, not for a book or an author, but for Julia Whelan as the narrator. Her voice can transform a story and I've fallen in love with so many books because of her. She is truly one of the best and...
Thank you to NetGalley for providing this advanced reader copy.4.5 Stars for this super fun read!So first off; I’m a huge fan of Julia Whelan and her audiobook narrations. I’ve listen to dozens of her absolute masterpieces and every time I just want to tip my hat to a woman who knows her craft and exceeds my every expectation. That being said I was so ecstatic when I saw she had written her own book. I definitely went in with high assumptions that this would be a fun read, and I was absolutely r...
