Keep CL's advice in mind while reading this book and/or traveling the wilds of Utah: " We wrote this book to be a fun, swoon-filled escape from the real world, not to serve as a guide to your own adventure. If you follow our route, you will die, lol." Something Wilder is a second chance romance about a wild west treasure hunting tour guide and the man who broke her heart. A treasure-hunting retreat brings them together again, where they face danger and darkness. Lily Wilder, daughter of Duke Wi...
This was a fun read! I loved the adventure aspect of it, it was similar to National Treasure but with more romance. You definitely have to suspend your belief with this one but it was such a fun time! I loved the second chance romance aspect of it and also how Lily and Leo cleared the air and communicated early on in the book aka acted like adults, truly appreciated that.
So good! This gave me Love & Other Words vibes, which is probably why I enjoyed it so much! I had a ton of fun reading Lily and Leo’s second chance romance. I love nature-y books that make me want to go out even though I am the least nature-y person ever. The whole treasure hunting in the middle of a desert thing was great, there was some exciting suspense thrown in towards the end, and the last few chapters had my heart so full. I will still complain that it wasn’t steamy enough though, lmao. I...
I'm here for the hilarious banter (it's CLo), the beginning and everything in between 😌
What a different book from CL! The trademark high quality writing is still there, but we get a true action/adventure story on top of the normal romance. I enjoyed the plot, but I think for a romance, there was an overlay of sadness that seemed tonally out of step for what I usually expect from the genre. Still, taking that out of the equation, this is a very enjoyable treasure hunting story with some nicely developed themes around grief and loss layered in
Hello, yes, welcome to Continued Christina Lauren Standom, population ME.It's no secret to anyone who's read my reviews that I fuck very hard with anything the goddesses known as CLo give us. There's just a baseline level of trust I put in these two to always give me a good time, and once again, they DELIVERED.Something Wilder is a departure from their earlier work in some ways but not others. It's their first time taking more of an ~adventure romance~, which I personally thought was a fun littl...
Second chance romance, an adventure guide company, and a fake treasure hunt. Yep, that is what we have here.Lily's father, Duke has an "Indiana Jones" type of reputation with a past of hidden treasures and big dreams. The love of Lily's life, Leo from ten years ago, shows up at the ranch ready for some outdoor adventures. Things go off the path and over the cliff when someone in the group has another plan. I didn't feel the chemistry between Lily and Leo and the witty banter the authors do so we...
Tropes: second chance romance, city boy country girl, forced proximity, one bed (sorta), misunderstandingThis is a second chance romance between Leo, a city boy, and Lily - the daughter of a famous treasure hunter. Since they separated, Lily's life has been hard. She relies on running fake treasure hunts based on her (deceased and disliked) dad's maps. When Leo is booked on to one of these hunts, it forces them to discuss what forced them apart, and see if those feelings ever left. Then THE TREA...
“Something Wilder” was an easy read, but there was nothing truly special about it. Despite what the blurb leads you to believe, the book is more focused on the “treasure hunting” part than the “romance” part. The little romance it had wasn’t all that great because we just didn’t see enough of Leo and Lily’s relationship before their fallout to understand why they still had strong feelings for each other after 10 years apart. I also felt like things moved too fast between the main characters and
The wait is over!! We are getting a new CLo book, even if it's not before 2022 😭
This book was so unexpected and unique!! I am floored. I am swooning. It’s got romance, mystery, adventure — everything. CLo’s best book since LOVE AND OTHER WORDS. There. I said it.
Do you ever read a book and know it was made for you? It speaks to your soul and will be living rent free in your mind for many moons? This book is that one for me.A second chance romance about Lily, a wrangler from Wyoming who moved to the deserts of Utah to take dudes out in search of a long lost Wild West treasure. First of all, I lived this prequel 8 years and was INSTANTLY hooked. Then the string of events that bring our two MCs together is next level clever and endearing. Then you make the...
Note: this is not a romcom. My expectations going in Something Wilder was something in past CL fashion with steamy and swoony love interests. Instead, we got an old flame (who wasn’t swoony at all…or maybe he was but CL didn’t write him swoony) and a treasure hunt. It was unique that I hadn’t ever read a romcom with a treasure hunt, but it seemed lacking on both sides, the romance and the hunt. I will say, this by the pool/beach/splash pad will be enjoyable. It’s bingeable and fun. Just know this...
To sum up this book in one word: Mess.It was basically 75% mess and 25% good plot and characterization. What's frustrating to me is that the writing was good, as always, and the chemistry between the two MCs was palpable. But I really heavily despised a major plot point and how it was dealt with from the first page to the last.(view spoiler)[ Leo (the MMC) is going on an annual group trip with his friends and from the second they appear one sticks out in a ridiculous way which made me question w...
