Decades ago, when I worked in Hollywood, I had occasion to walk into the studio's outer casting office one day. The aroma of a hundred clashing perfumes nearly knocked me back into the hall, but I soldiered forward, thus warned, to walk into an icy, tense atmosphere: it was an open casting call for five year old girls for a bit part in one of the current crop of TV shows. What I saw in that quiet, tense room were what seemed like 500 Mrs. Temples glaring at each other and minutely assessing each...
Built to Last: A Novel is a heart-warming romance story that will leave you smiling! It's a true love story with a happy ending!! This book tells the story of Shelby and Cameron, former child stars who left Hollywood. They are brought back for a reality show by their former costar who has never been anything but trouble for them. Not only does this novel tell their love story but they each get the redemption they both deserve. I really enjoyed the dynamics of the characters. The two main have so...
3.5/5 starsI ONLY COULD SEE BEN AND ERIN FROM HOMETOWN USA WHILE READING THIS. I MEAN SHELBY HAS A BOB HAIRSTYLE?? CAM HAS A BEARD? THEIR COLORINGS MATCH? Anyways. This is a very solid rom-com by Erin Hahn. I am not a huge fan of second chance romances, but I was rooting for Cam and Shelby and it worked for me in this novel. The years of shared history and the pining were excellent. (I thought the flashback was weird, but whatever)The home renovation show was a fun setting and overall I just lov...
So I have a confession to make: I am an HGTV addict. On any given day, if you were to come to my house, you would find me sitting on my couch, watching Love It or List It and not-so-silently judging the renovation choices. So when I saw Built To Last was an HGTV inspired, second chance romance written by Erin Hahn, author of one of my favorite reads of 2019, "You'd Be Mine"? It went right onto my "Most Anticipated Gotta Have It” book list. And let me tell you, this book lived up to (and exceeded...
Shelby is a former child star with a rocky history. After leaving Hollywood 5 years ago, she finds solace and a new start in restoring furniture alongside her house flipper father. After being away from the limelight for so long, Shelby is approached to do a pilot of a home renovation show, her co-star being her former co-star and first love. Add in a vindictive ex, a handful of amazing friends, some family drama, and the sweetest second chance love story, and you have “Built to Last”!I’m not su...
Oh sweet lord! I couldn’t put this book down! When I first read the blurb, I was afraid of reading a love triangle ( unfortunately that trope never works for me) but as soon as I start delving more about Shelby and Cameron’s back story, I truly wanted them reunited and I relieved to find out this is friends to lovers/ second chances love story! Shelby and Cameron literally burn for each other since they were kids and they let other people intervene on their behalf’s! I literally screamed at them...
Built to Last is a second chance friends-to-lovers romance. I absolutely loved its premise and the main characters are so likeable. I found myself quickly getting wrapped up in the author's writing style, my only issue with the book is that the three main characters' history, although interesting, made for a bit messy of relationships and caused a good amount of miscommunication. Still, in spite of that, this book is painfully cute. Built to Last is a really good slow burn with so much mutual pi...
My heart is so happy!
I was really excited when I saw this cover and read the description. It sounded like a cute and fun story and while it was it did disappoint me a bit. I liked the two main characters Shelby and Cameron but I hated Lyle (as you were supposed to) and wanted them to fire him or do something instead of how it all went down. Cameron, Shelby, and Lyle were all child actors on the same show growing up together. Cameron and Shelby were stealing moments off camera while Shelby and Lyle had the on screen
2.5 STARS 🏠👩🏼🔧🧑🏻🔧First things first, I was given a copy of this book as an ARC, in exchange for an honest review. A big thank-you to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Griffin, and Erin Hahn for allowing me to be an early reader! I’m going to start this review off by saying I was quite disappointed. I had such high hopes for this book. The plot and storyline is so good, but unfortunately it just wasn’t executed right in my opinion. Shelby Springfield and Cameron Riggs are childhood sweethearts. They star...
Okay but can we talk about that cover real quick? ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. Built to Last is a sweet, second chance, slow burn, friends to lovers romance with a little "oops one room" trope! If you love any of those tropes ~ I think you will definitely enjoy this book! Shelby was kind of a mess, but I'm glad she had found her true passion, doing renovations with her dad, before getting back into a relationship. Cameron, the traveling photographer for National Geographic was a nice enough guy. Though
Note: This review is for an ARC and is my unbiased opinion.Built to Last was like a big hug. It made me feel all warm and gooey inside. I adored everything about it. The writing was as good as I expected it to be coming from Erin Hahn. I loved how upbeat the story felt even when dealing with the more emotional parts of the story. The characters were fabulous. The second chance love story was sweet. The small-town setting was perfect. The drama was so much fun. There really wasn't much not to lik...
Built to Last is Erin Hahn’s debut Adult RomCom, but it still has all the charm and heart of her YA novels. This novel also connects to her other novels, so the easter eggs were neat to see! Built to Last is the story of Shelby and Cameron, former best friends and childhood sweethearts. They’ve had a decade full of missed chances and almost romance, but after not seeing each other for five years, they’re forced together by their unlikable co-star Lyle, who happens to be Shelby’s other ex-boyfrie...
Erin Hahn basically owns my reading life. If she writes it, I am reading it. When she announced a romance for adults instead of her usual YA romance, I NEEDED this book. I was right. I really did need it. I loved this story of two child stars who come together as adults to film a pilot for a home renovation show. Their history and tension and their hidden love for each other was so easy to sink into and kept me compulsively reading until the very last page. I loved that the big conflict was more...

Erin Hahn can do no wrong. As a lover of Chip & Joanna, and Erin & Ben on HGTV, it was fun to go behind the scenes of a reality home renovation show romance. But even if those kinds of shows aren’t your jam, you will still find plenty to love about Shelby and Cameron. Cameron and Shelby were childhood best friends and first loves. Different career paths took them away from each other, but you never forget your first. When Shelby gets an opportunity to showcase her woodworking talents on a new sh...
A cute romance about a second chance love story. An easy read, would be great for vacation - or if you are a fan of HGTV. Some spicy scenes, FYI - I'd say medium-hot salsa. Perfect for fans of Jasmine Guillory or Christina Lauren. The story flowed well and the addition of some family drama made me want to keep reading. The ending was my absolute favorite part, I how the author wrapped everything up! Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the advance copy in exchange for an honest revi...
I’m an avid romance reader so when I saw this available to be requested, I jumped on it. I really thought I would enjoy it but it was a little too slow for me. I enjoy friends-to-lovers & a second chance romance but the surrounding characters really drove me crazy (looking at you, Lyle). Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for this ARC ebook in exchange for an honest review.
POV: Dual.Descriptive Sex: Yes. OW/OM: No.Separation: In the past. Content Warnings: There's a flashback scene with descriptive sex between minors. (view spoiler)[It's consenting sex between a 17- and 16-year-old. Giving it a mention since I think it can be something people are uncomfortable reading. Personally, I don't enjoy reading/watching scenes of this nature where minor characters are involved so I skimmed through it. I want to start by saying thank you NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book! Although I was really drawn in to the plot sadly this book wasn't a five star for me. I am an avid romance reader and this book is a second chance romance with a fixer upper spin. This book has three main characters, an all American boy, the not so good guy, and the shared love interest. This book is really about the rekindling of Cameron Riggs, all American good guy who walked away from acting and som...
