spectacular urban fantasy adventure seriesThis is an entertaining urban fantasy adventure series. An awesome cast of characters in a unique and entertaining storyline. London Hayes lives in Brittania which is a city that used to be called London in the United Kingdom. Many years ago 10 super volcanoes around the world irrupt it and nearly wiped out humanity. The world lost its access to sunlight as ash and dust filled the atmosphere. Much of the worlds plants and animals were dying and because o...
I jumped straight into this after finishing book 3 because it did end on a bit of a cliffhanger. This starts with London stuck in the tower with her magic subdued while the King tries to get her to help him find the remaining stone. She manages to escape with a little help and heads back to London to enlist the help of her Knight friends in finding the stone that has been narrowed down to three locations across the country. If they don't get their hands on the stone first then war is coming. So th...
Great endingI truly enjoyed this series from book 1 and it ended on a high note. I wish we'd gotten more of a future glimpse of Callan and London but I was still happy with the HEA. Looking forward to more books in this world.
FANTASTIC! Man, this series caught me by surprise. I hadn’t read anything by this author so I came in with fresh eyes. To say I devoured the whole series was an understatement. Just in case you care, Kami is my favorite lol! The characters are well developed, and grew with each book. The world building was well done! I of course adore Callan and London, but I also really liked Davina, and Trio, and even the king and Maeron. The menagerie- you’ll have to read to find out- was also hilarious. Like...
3 1/2 stars. I finished this series last night and already can't remember what happened in it. Which is probably on me, getting old. But a lot of the stuff in it was pretty light on emotional stakes - I wasn't committed to her journey or her joy.The ending with the battle seemed contrived, and the epilogue even more so. It's a very, very packaged happy ending. I don't mind, because at least it lets me write the series out of my head definitively. But I think she's planning on writing a sequel, s...
On a relatively solid series this book was a bit of a let down. To start with the good stuff:The FMC was competent and emotionally mature. There were multiple female side characters and their differences were respected rather than looked down upon. That’s truly an accomplishment so thank you. The romance was slow burn and developed, we saw the male love interest slowly recognize his privilege and grow his beliefs. There was no love triangle and limited angst. The writing and dialogue was believa...
Tried to be epic but failed, could have used 2 more books in the series to really set up the world-building and create overall tension for the reader's enjoyment. The author did not spend enough time creating the lead-up to any romantic tension which made everything very subpar. We also did not find out enough about the hero, his thoughts, and why he did what he did. It would have been nice to have gotten a peek inside of his head to really understand his choices. We were mostly told what his iss...
