Expecting to spend a quiet vacation in a remote and little-known part of Greece, Catherine Ham filled her many bags, gathered up her husband as pack mule, and set off from Texas to meet her publisher's deadline for a knitting book.
Their arrival in Athens was confusing. The map provided by the booking agent was incorrect. The drive north to Pelion was long and exhausting, but they finally arrived at Magda's house on the Pagasitic Gulf.
In the summer playground of the Olympic gods and home of the fabled centaurs, with Cathy knitting away every spare moment, they experienced situations they never could have imagined as they explored the region from which Jason and his Argonauts had set sail in search of the Golden Fleece.
Undeterred by storm and earthquake, an inquisitive snake, a mama scorpion and her progeny, a standoff with a traffic cop, not to mention a runaway car at Thermopylae, they fell completely under the spell cast upon them by the Pelion Peninsula.
