About the AuthorHARRY STANIFER, born in Monroe, was raised in lower Michigan during the depression years. At seventeen he left Sand Creek High School to join the U.S. Marine Corps. Assigned to the 6th Marine Division, he served in the South Pacific during World War II. After the conflict, he was sent to North China for eighteen months to repatriate the Japanese Army. Harry returned home in 1947. While furthering his education, he married and worked at several jobs before settling into the engineering department at the Tecumseh Products Company. Throughout the years they have been active members of the United Methodist Church and now reside in Hartwell, Georgia, near their son Chris and his wife Linda.
