The A to Z Project was conceived by Nara in the summer of 2003. Over the next few years, Nara and members of graf created and exhibited huts at galleries in Japan, Korea and Taiwan. In the summer of 2006, in conjunction with the Creative Unit graf, guest artists, and over 13,000 volunteers, a temporary town of huts/buildings/houses were constructed in an old brick warehouse in Hirosaki.
