Already as I'm writing this the story is a bit hazy. I have been distracted by visitors so did not do my review straight away.I did enjoy it although it although it seems many didn't. Lackberg employed the historic sub-plot device effectively yet again. I do like that trick. The historic story was very sad, as was the modern day parallel actually. There was further development of the characters too. Erica now has baby twin boys. Her sister Anna is in meltdown after losing her baby to a miscarria...
Everything about this book is just horrible! It took me so long to finish it, because there were so many characters and stories, and they keep shifting constantly which made me lose track of who's who, and after a few pages of reading I'd resign to my fate and stop reading.Plus, it's a boring 500-hundred-page novel and a part of a series! as if one book isn't enough to kill you LOL.
Ah... Camilla, Patrik, Erica, Anna. What can I say?It had been a while and there were things I no longer remembered.Nevertheless I liked the story and could even overlook the fact that, as usual, there’s too much about the characters’ personal issues.I will have to keep on reading the series.

In fact, it was not even mentioned that it occurred to the characters' minds. Considering that they were trying to investigate the intensely priva...
I loved this book. I found all the characters interesting even apart from their roles in the mystery/ies. (I don't want to name the victims because that would be a spoiler but the effects of their deaths are absorbingly recounted.) I loved the desolate haunted island with its beautiful lighthouse. I enjoyed the story that is counterpointed against the main story, set in present day Sweden (the other story takes place in the same location in the 1800s). I felt involved in the lives of the police
Oh for goodness sake! I'm always on the lookout for Scandinavian-Nordic thrillers. I picked up a Book Page (or Pages, whatever) brochure from the library and they chose this as a good read. So I thought I'd try it now that Steig Larsson is gone. Way too simple. No, I am not in the sixth grade, thank you very much. Can I have a little plot, some character development? Please.Do not recommend. Too many other goods books out there.2 out of 5 stars.
