I have a story in this, so maybe it's cheating to put it here, but there's a lot of good stuff in it and one or two outstanding pieces, I think. My story isn't new; it was written something like 20 years ago, and is much more pleased with itself than my writing tends to be now.
Some of the stories and a few of the poems were enjoyable, but this collection was average (at best). It would have benefitted from more selective editing, making a smaller, stronger volume.
The best part about this anthology was a short story by Doris Lessing.Also, the last two four stories about books & writing were delicious.An okay read.
On the whole I liked the poetry selection. However, the short stories that most charmed my eyes were the ones by more established writers. The section at the end, writers discussing writing, was certainly very enjoyable as opposed to the beginning of the book where tales of youth were featured. I found them quite weak in comparison to the later sections of the anthology.
