Chapter One: Takes place in 2001. The Winchester's are in New York to track down a guy John thought he killed in '93. John Dee and into black magic. John hopes he will give him a lead on Mary's killer.Sam is angry that they had to leave two days before his graduation. They go to Dee's place and are attacked by some mysterious dude with a black fedora. He escapes but leaves purple blood. At the hotel, Sam reads his Stanford acceptance letter. Dean asks when he's going to show it to their dad. A hun...
I picked this up on a whim seeing it recently on a graphic novel display at my local library a few days back.I am a fan of the TV series in that I watch it when it gets transmitted in UK about a year after USA and buy the DVD box sets when they drop to bargain price. I have some friends who live and breath the series and attend conventions but my appreciation is not at that level. As a result I don't feel I need to know all that much about the back story of the show's characters, so this graphic...
A few good stories jammed together, but internal contradictions (first Sam is horrified to use stolen money, then he steals himself??) and a telegraphed betrayal bring it down.
It's nice to see moments from before the show, I know that like many family dynamics Sam and John didn't always fight and scream at each other. These story lines had a little lore that was interesting and while it was short (duh its a comic) it was kind of like a mini-episode that you could easily see being a fully rounded, one-shot episode that wouldn't be too terrible. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars was the artwork, its so.... you couldn't tell who was Sam and who was Dean, they're pret...
Having just finished reading this I don't know if I can give coherent thoughts on the work in question, as I am busy making high pitched noises in praise of the book. The art is much more crisp than the previous volumes, and the expressions more readable. The story is better flowing as well like a true episode. The characters are really starting to look, and sound like the ones I know and love.If you can get your hands on it grab fast, and enjoy.
The story's pretty good. The artwork got really better. John has eyes now :D
Good to see John is still winning the dad of the year awards (sarcasm). It’s a pivotal moment for the relationship dynamics and I’m glad I read it but story wise it’s plot is weak and all over the place.
Really feel for Dean in this, he is stuck between Sam and his dad. And turns out John told Sam to go to Stanford to toughen him up and keep him out of play for a while, you even see that town Sam gets kidnapped and ends up with all the other special children. Weird....how much did John know but never told them.
I’m glad I ended up liking this since I had to get it through ILL from Utah. The Winchester boys are adults and taking on NYC! I’ve been surprised through this whole series that there are so many demons. I thought that wasn’t as prevalent until post-Devil’s Gate. Also, John Winchester is even worse than I already thought he was!
Again, more like 3.5 stars. In this TPB, the boys are all grown up and Sam has just received his Stanford acceptance letter. This story explores Sam's decision to leave hunting for college, and how John reacts/pushes all along the way. Has some hunts by the boys without John, and we meet Yellow Eyes for the first time.
I've read this book twice now over the last couple of weeks and I think it says it all about this graphic novel that I still can't remember almost anything about the plot. It's still a prequel story like the rest of this series, so we still have Daddy Winchester dragging his now almost adult sons around the country chasing after clues to the monster that killed Mama Winchester. This one is mostly set in New York, and features a heavier cast than previous titles, including a few other hunters. It...
(3.5) art was ok
I love supernatural, so it was interesting and fun to see a story of the characters from the show in this format. The only trouble I had was reconciling everything that happened here, with things from the show. I know it's not perfectly overlapping, but it was still enjoyable. The art was well done also, so it made it fun to look at. Overall, perfect for anyone who likes Supernatural.
The Supernatural graphic novels still haven't quite clicked for me. Not bad, just not what I was expecting. This is still a prequel to the show, but now the boys are older and doing hunting of their own. I always knew the relationship between the boys and their father was strained, but the comics are pulling no punches. It really shows just how sad the lives of Sam and Dean have been. There's really nothing cool about what they do. Their entire life is based on tragedy which led to obsession. At
First of all, if this is the Dabb that is running the show rn, fuck you bc you are shit and f off.Second of all, at lwats you made John POS so we some what good Dabb. Third of all, first one was burned but its not the destiny for this one. It's not good enough. Second book was sent to jail, but that's too nice for this book. This book should just out right be thrown into he'll through the fucking gates of hell you opened. I hope it goes there and stay there.2 stars are for the art and that's it
idk, man, this was really freakin' boring. more of John Winchester's A+ Parenting. some super offensive lines. i wish i could give it less than one star, lol. had to squeeze the hell out of the brother moments to get any true enjoyment out of it.
Beginning's End is a prequel to the Supernatural series - it begins with Sam graduating from high school and ends with him leaving for Stanford. The majority of the story takes place in New York City, which is a nice change of pace from the small towns generally featured on the show. We get to meet some new hunters, the ones who take care of the city, but mainly the story is about John Winchester and his sons.Sam and his dad have a very rocky relationship, primarily because of John's obsession o...
This graphic novel is all sorts of ridiculous. At one point Dean is literally carrying around Sam’s talking head that was severed by a magical axe... throw in a few really off color jokes and a dash of wasted time. 🤷🏼♀️
I really like these "Supernatural" Comics (or are they called Graphic Novels now?). For me these are canon until the TV shows says something else. So, now I discovered how it came that John basically threw Sam out and that Dean has been hunting alone since then and got the Impala then. From the stories of the Comic I liked the "headless" Sam one best. For whatever reason I found that really funny... :)
I swear these just make you hate John Winchester, and make you feel super bad for Dean. You can tell it just SUCKED for Dean trying to keep his family together. This is an enjoyable novel that fills in the gap of how Sam ended up leaving for college, however, the John that is in this doesn't really match the John we meet in the show. The John in this to be blunt is a total asshole and crappy father, which isn't what we get in the show. Good for hard core fans who love having more Supernatural b
