Orte Der Geographie: Stationen Der Entwicklung

Orte Der Geographie: Stationen Der Entwicklung

Benno Werlen
0/5 ( ratings)
With the change of social theory in geography and the spatial turn in the social sciences and humanities, the way is paved for an interdisciplinary study of the relationship between society and space. This selection of essays for Gesellschaftliche Raumlichkeit from the geographical point of departure provide an overview of the treatment of this issue from a practice-based perspective. With this the call is made to avoid the pitfalls of the mechanical worldview and the hasty spatialization of socio-cultural, economic, and political realities.
Volume 1 addresses this approach in its historical context, provides a clarification of the ontological status of society and space, and derives the methodological principles of a practice-focused geography, which eventually serves as the basis of a globalized geographical world understanding. The foundations for the development of a constructivist worldview are laid, which is then developed further in Volume 2. German text.
