The best of the oWoD historical settings. Mysticism, politics, discovery, adventure, war... All the great themes in one game.
Another Mage-related game; this is set chronologically between Ars Magica and Mage: The Ascension. Much love.
Basic Premise: An RPG rulebook that covers the playing of Mages in the World of Darkness, in the Renaissance.I love the game of Mage, and this book gives a lot of lore on the world as it used to be, creating the foundations that lead to the modern world. As in all White Wolf books, there is a tremendous amount of well-written background and story in addition to the rules needed to make the game work. Mage is probably the single most creative and ambitious role-playing magic systems I've ever rea...
My finest hour to date. Only recently have I had a chance to actually PLAY the game I created 12 years back, and when my friend Bryan started running it, I got a chance to revisit the line and take serious pride in something that, at the time, was just another batch of books for the MAGE series I managed and co-created. SORCERERS CRUSADE, to me, remains the bar I strive to reach or excel.
“The Great Work.” That’s what I called this book in my youth, 20+ years ago. When I set out to re-read this tome a week ago, I feared that it would lose the beauty and wonder that it originally inspired. Luckily, I was wrong. This is still an amazing game worthy of the title “The Great Work.” I would definitely love to run it again.
I've been looking forward to reading this, as this line was Satyros Phil Brucato's baby, and he's very proud of it, and it should tell me a lot about his attitudes towards M20 (I've liked the Mage Revised books by him I've read, though this will be a line that he had nigh complete editorial control over, to my understanding). And right out of the gate, I'm blown away by the fact that there's a map! And better, it has the White Tower, Mistridge and Doissetep on it, answering questions I've been wo...
Probably the best in White Wolf's historical settings line, this one explores Mage: the Ascension in a time when ideas were fighting and dying and great strife was first coming to the mage world - the Rennaisance! This game tops out [IN PROGRESS]
