Buddha

Biplab Majee
0/5 ( ratings)
Buddha by Biplab Majee Translated from Bengali into English by Dr Rameshchandra Mukhopadhyaya and Nandita Bhattacharya
Buddha is one of the longest poems by Biplab Majee. Biplab seems to be inspired by Buddha; hence, this poem. The poem deals with Buddha primarily.
Biplab is worried with the excess of market Economy. With the advent of globalization, people have become slave of different brands. The market today is but notional which has been extended to our bedroom even. The market did not spare any individual. We are all but commodities in this ever-expanding market. Every Ism, human values, religion and even gods have been turned into commodities in this market economy. Biplab has tried to draw a picture of this all pervading all grasping market with words where Buddha is but a commodity. The market adds a value to Buddha and they sell the Buddha who has been turned into a brand. No one loves Buddha now. No one follow his doctrine. There is no way out of it. The poem is like a stream of thoughts of Biplab Majee --- the eminent Bengali poet. Biplab’s raised some question which is at bottom spiritual. His is the searching for the salvation of sorrows of life. But how? Where is the way? Biplab’s heart searching queries are but the queries of many people.
