A really good short story. Read for class and actually enjoyed it, but it wasn't long enough.3.5/5 stars
Couldn't stop my tears after reading it. Such an emotional one.
A heart breaking story, i couldn't hold back my tears...At last , the duty takes the precedence over the friendship....
Any short story by this guy is always amazing !!:)
Great use of irony at the end. Another good one from O. Henry!
3.5 StarsInteresting story!
If you are antiquated with O, Henry and his story structure then its will be hard to believe that you dont like him. Its hard to shun a story with sensible twist in the end.About this story i would like to say that as the story commenced i was like:And I just knew i was about to get something amazing out of this. However, the end was more than amazing. I was actually like:I just wish there was something more to it, but it was too brief - too brief to annoy and to amazing to amuse. And WOW my revi...
Two men have dinner, and as they part ways, agree to meet in the same place twenty years in the future. One gained wealth and fame, while the other led a simpler life. It is up to the reader to decide which man fared better over time. Is it destiny or choices that make the man?I had read this earlier, but never marked it on Goodreads. It only took reading the first few words and I remembered the story. It is very short, about 6 pages, and simply shows why O. Henry is one of the best short story
I first read this story for school when I was 11 and it got me hooked on O. Henry short stories. Re-read it this year and loved it as much, probably even more than the first time.

How could he do that?!?I love O. Henry's short stories!
I'd read this for school, and originally didn't think much of the author when I watched the film adaptation of The Gift of the Magi, but this was certainly a lovely short story. O. Henry's style of writing and his characteristic climatic twist really does bring about a certain joy.
I just love this short story!! It was a part of our college text book. O. Henry is well known for his wit, wordplay, warm characterisation and surprise endings. My favorite part of the story was its surprise ending. Its completely unexpected. Though Bob has a negative side of life, he remains a favorite to the writer and the readers as well.
He's my new favorite short story writer.
My 13 year old told me to read this short story. I'm so glad he did. We are looking forward to checking out many more short stories by this classic author.
I loved this short story!
I read it for school..And i'm not wasting my chance to add a book on here lmao-__My first impression on the ending was that it wasn't satisfying and rather tragic..But i def missed the whole point of the story. If you are in a situation where you have to choose between your morals or loyalty..What would be your choice?I think the characters are really well written..The writting style sounds like a black and white movie but i ain't gon complain :)If it was a much taller story..a one were i have bu...
