In this second Endless Storybook, Delirium realizes something important:And so, she and her faithful canine Barnabas set out to have the perfect party for Delirium, including stunning gifts from the other Endless! But will this work? Will Delirium smile?Interestingly, the story here was a bit more deep than in the 1st volume. It's about the nature of each Endless after all. Nevertheless, here too, it's mostly about the adorably cute art and making the reader chuckle.Still, I had a very good time...
SANDMAN spinoff, in which Delirium throws a party for her sister Despair. An out and out weirdie, looking like an illustrated children's book but really anything but--more like an outing for sophisticated graphic novel readers, disguised to look like a children's book. As with most of these sorts of stories, the art is stronger than the story.
Seven siblings are archetypes: Dream, Despair, Destiny, Desire, Death, Delirium, and Destruction. In Delirium's Party, little Delirium the "technicolor Princess" decides to make her beloved sister Despair smile by throwing her a party. Unfortunately, what makes other people happy isn't what makes Despair happy, but the siblings finally succeed and rejoice because they truly love their sister... even if she is a little different. Jill Thompson's art almost dances off the page, and is full of stra...
More delightful storytelling and art from Jill Thompson, from the world of The Sandman.
Cute. Some of the writing was a little too cutesy but the art work is amazing. She is one of my favorite illustrators.
Short but sweet.
The little Endless! Who could not love them to bits? Except this seems like it's maybe the wrong Dream. Didn't he die & then get replaced by Daniel, the white Dream, after Barnabas was around? Am I being too pedantic? Ultimately, it doesn't matter because it's just so cute.
love this sm sjhfhdhd this and the prev part is so cute aaaaa. also the art style is so friggin cool
The best party I was ever invited to 🥳🤗🦋🐠🌈🪐💫 A fun and silly take on The Endless, and my favorite, Delirium!
I really wish I had read the first one, but this book was a pleasant surprise when I processed it at work today. I am a fan of the Sandman comics as well as chibis and illustration. This book called out to me! It really is adorable with wonderful and bright illustrations. Also, compared to the characters and the comic that it's based off of, it really is quite humorous!
A cute short issue that focuses on the story of Delirium throwing Despair a party to see her smile. It's more in the style of a children's story, both in what concerns the art and the plot (which is pretty light and simple), however I think it's still mostly directed at the existing grown-up fans of the Sandman series. I enjoyed it fine for the story it was. The art was simply adorable though!
A delightful read from cult classic character's the Endless from Neil Gaiman's Sandman by Jill Thompson. It's great read for any age!
Rating this book was really difficult. It is probably one of the most bizarre books I have ever read. Having said that, I read it twice; once quickly because I couldn't believe it, the second time more slowly so I could really take it in. The illustrations are whimsical to say the least. The creativity is beyond anything I've seen before. I mean, the sun is a slightly goopy, dripping egg for heaven's sake! So much is buried in the illustrations. There is a levitating fork. Because. Why not? So,
As much as I adore the Little Endless, I wasn't as impressed with this story as I was with the previous book written and illustrated by Jill Thompson. Her llustrations are, of course, still top notch, and she used her subject's (Delirium's) madness to full visual extent, but the story kind of annoyed me. Despair's function is despair, so throwing a party in an attempt to make them not despair is highly contrary to their nature and is essentially doomed to failure. But of course, that is also Del...
This is such a cute book!Absolutely loved it! :D
Shorr. But very sweet.
The pages look truly great. The prose is captivating and fun, and the story matches Delirium's swirly, psychedelic madness. In short, it's a fun little book, and well worth a look.
Great book and family friendlyIf you happen to enjoy the sandman mythos this book id's a fine addition that can be shared with family
Beautiful artwork here. Cute story too.
Like its predecessor, The Little Endless Storybook (inspired by Thompson's own work on The Sandman issue #40, "Parliament of Rooks" (collected in Fables & Reflections), in which Gaiman wrote a story segment featuring Dream and Death as little children), this book is a small gem.Thompson's work (here in water colour) is superb, and the story is absolute charming.Delirium, youngest of the Endless, remembers that she has never seen her sister Despair smile, and becomes obsessed with making that hap...
