National Lampoon Art Poster Book

"When someone suggested at an editorial meeting some months ago that the National Lampoon produce an art poster book, most of the editors resorted to their normal, calm approach to a situation which calls for some thoughtful reasoning - they had tantrums. It got down to one of those battles that one hates to see in corporate life, even a corporate life which is about as tightly structured as a Polish erector set.

"There wree two distinctly diverse groups. One thought it would be a terrific idea to produce a poster book comprising twenty-six outstanding works of art published during the more than five-year history of the magazine. The othr group was not quite as eloquent but was equally as forceful in their thinking ...

"... The arguments were most persuasive. Both sides stood their ground ...

... So we decided to do it. And that's how this superb book of art came to be."
