It was an OK book. Not my favorite.
Hilarious. Nuff said.
I am pretty much a sucker for a book in an academic setting. I loved this.
good story about two friends from the opposite coasts who are going to grad school somewhere in "the middle" and how they try to fit in there while holding on to where they came from.
Highly relatable and funny.
I really enjoyed this, maybe because I am from a flyover state and am working in academia with an MFA. At any rate, it's light, but smartly written. The authors, writing under pseudonyms here, have literary bonafides. Also, although this book was published fifteen years ago and is set during the presidency of George W., it's strangely relevant to what's going on today.
The book over all was ok. The characters were mediocre and nothing really stood out. The description of the mid-west where the girls went to college however was fabulous. Dead on.the author tended to be a little wordy and I found myself having to re-read the some sentences to figure out what was being said. Good beach read, when you have time to read carefully and set it down to do other things.
Academic chick lit about a couple of grad students in an English department at an un-named Indiana University. Some amusing send-ups of pretentiousness and departmental politics. Some musings on class and race, especially taking what the main characters are reading and their trying to interpret it to their non-academic lives.
Ok all in all. A little slow.
Enjoyable academic chick lit. Found at barnes. Knew nothing about it. Funny.
Slow start, but overall entertaining.
There is nothing like going to school in the middle of nowhere!
This is a fun summer read for smart women.
